Looking for a gunsmith in wny, preferably Erie county to cut and crown and refinish a rifle barrel from 20” to 18” so that it will be featureless.
I bought one from him and it’s very nice. He’s in the Rochester area. Great guy to deal with.I believe @Runner99 worked on crowning rifle barrels or at least his own.
I know the kid is now running the gun locker but the old man is not someone I would want to deal with. Prices on transfers and ammo were crazy. I talked to him about getting an AR lower and he told me it was cheaper for him to build it for me and wanted a grand without the stock or upper and this was 10 years ago. I did my entire rifle for $750. Also keep in mind the kid is a cop so watch what you say while there.Try Blue Tuna Gunsmithing in Kenmore or The gun locker in Tonawanda.
I’ve only dealt with a gentleman named Larry at The Gun Locker. He did some work on a handgun for me and I have no complaints. Everything worked out fine.I know the kid is now running the gun locker but the old man is not someone I would want to deal with. Prices on transfers and ammo were crazy. He screwed my dad big time on a UTV/SXS on the motor cycle side of the shop. He screwed him more than once on the same machine and said he did work that he never did and could fix it but couldn’t. Time, money, and aggravation is all it was. I won’t step foot in there again.
Also tried to screw a friend out of some estate guns on pricing. Maybe other FFLs would have been in the same ballpark but man the prices were rock bottom for the guns and conditions the hubs were in.
Appreciate the shoutout.I believe @Runner99 worked on crowning rifle barrels or at least his own.
