Because Dark Storm when on a social media campaign declaring that their proprietary fixed mag lowers were the only approved lowers for an AR. They claimed that the NYSP told them that other fixed mag lowers and the Thordsen stock was illegal. This cost companies like Thorsden to suspend shipping to New York.

It was all a Hoax to drum up sales on their lowers. The NYSPRA investigated the matter and came to find out that the NYSP never gave such a determination. The NYSP also said that they are not in the business of determining legalities and it's for the courts to sort out so they don't know where Dark Storm got this information that their lowers were the only legal ones.

Fuck Dark Storm. They tried to make a buck on our backs by trying to screw over gun owners to only buy their products.

You know, I think your the only person that I have gotten an actual answer as to why people don’t like DSI.

I had no idea that was the case. If that’s true, that is really messed up. I feel like I heard about the lower being the only compliant one. Never the rest.

I believe I picked up my DSI one before I joined on this site. Had I known, I would have passed.

So whatever happened with dsi? They now sell thorsden guns again after all that. Can't seem to find any statement as to why the feel comfortable selling them again or the outcome of the lawsuit etc...

Anyways NYS sucks ass, the scr keeps looking better to me esp after seeing the one with a Boyd's 1100 stock.

Because the whole thing was bullshit. A few troopers gave DSI their opinions on what is and what isnti legal. And that's all it was- opinions.

I don't believe DSI intentionally set out to make their lower the only legal option, but the way their original post was worded, it sure sounded like like it.

In short, they jumped the gun without facts and also threw other companies under the bus.
