Looks like Utah is going permitless carry!

It passed the House and Senate here. Gov. Cox has already said he would sign it. I'm not sure how this compares to other states with permitless carry. In Utah, you can open carry without a permit, but the gun cannot have a round in the chamber. I know for sure this law makes it so that you can now conceal the gun on your person without a permit, but I'm not sure if it also makes it so that you can have the gun loaded without having the permit. I'll look into it. Like Arizona, you'll still be able to get the permit, which is good for traveling, Etc..

Not sure what the future holds on the federal level and how it could affect this, but it is nice that this is happening. I think there are also a bunch more states with similar legislation being considered. Let's hope this trend continues.

I believe you cannot have a round in the chamber (which for a revolver would equal a loaded cylinder chamber lined up with the barrel) and you must have to complete 2 or 3 mechanical actions to fire the gun (cock hammer, or rack slide, pull the trigger, etc. ). It's dumb. So for a wheel gun, you may have to have one or two empty chambers before a loaded one. I don't know why this is. It kinda defeats the purpose. Hopefully, the bill does away with that.

I'll post up the relevant parts of the bill in a bit, but the last part of the bill exempts people 21 and over who can lawfully posses a firearm from the parts of Utah law that make it illegal to conceal carry loaded without a permit.

It's a dumb law, but so is any gun control really. The only possible reasoning I can think of would be back when everyone had single action revolvers and it was safer to rest the hammer on an empty chamber. That or the law was written like that because of a fear that with open carry, someone might grab your gun and making it so that you have to take extra steps before firing it some how made it safer....dunno.
I'm just glad they joined three of the states that border them and passed constitutional carry.

Well, while I live in SLC I will do what I can to vote the dems out. What I can tell you is that it's a completely different mentality from NY here. Yes, there will always be anti gun people and unfortunately they are here and they are consentrated here in the SLC area and Park City, but its still hands down a completely different world from fucking NY and not lost to the dems yet. I would encourage any of you who hate NY and don't want it's policies and politics to move out here.

I am worried about what will come down the pipe on the federal level, but I am also encouraged by the attitude I am encountering here. Biden's type of gun control could be a HUGE non-starter for a lot of states. You'll likely see mass non compliance at minimum. Guess we'll see.

I foresee a group a traditional strong red states enacting all sorts of "gun sanctuary" legislation directly in opposition of what the federal government decrees. The feds won't appreciate that and there will be a lot of back and forth and a strong secessionist movement will begin with a few states forming a loose Alliance and banding together to preserve their freedoms against an ever increasingly oppressive and restrictive federal government.


We'll see what happens as soon as there is another mass shooting which I'm sure we are due for any month now and how much the regime cracks down on and blames everyone else and gives us all collective punishment for a deranged mentally ill person.

This has supposedly started already. This video is a year old... Not sure where that all is now, but I think the push for gun control will be the straw. It was on April 19th 1775 when the British marched to confiscate arms and yes, we could literally be in the same situation now. We all know the 2A is a very deep rooted, visceral topic for all Americans. Awareness is up now, this will not be another 1994.
