I like the lines on the 685 better for some reason. More old school perhaps ?

The stainless is the 686, the blued version is the 586. The 586 shown by the OP is a new revolver which has the lock, S&W had to change the profile of the frame above the lock to have room to fit it, you may be picking up on the difference which may be why it looks better to you.
