M1A functioning with 10 round stripper clips

Since the beginning, standard stripper clips have been 5 rounds for the M14/M1A. These days, 10 round stripper clips are available for purchase. The 10 rounders seem to be sized just a slight bit fatter than the 5 rounders. Loading the mags with 10 round clips is not a problem, but using these clips to load directly into the receiver/mag assembly via the receiver mounted clip guide apparently doesn't work. Do you know of anyone that has an M1A that will allow 10 round clips to feed directly into a mag via the receiver mounted stripper clip guide?

And, by the way: FUAC!

I started out with these and found them to be finicky. All 10 would not load in a nice push. So I only pushed 3 at a time until all 10 were loaded. There is a vid on Youtube where a guy made a tool that allowed all 10 to be pushed at the same time. Never tried that though.....

Tried both ways. Combo tool just scratched and dented up the brass. I now use 5 round clips and they work great.

If those NcSTAR .308 clips are any thing like the SKS clips some hand fitting may be required to get to fit a particular gun. I had to take a dremel to mine to fit a Tula SKS

The dremel was for the clips or the SKS clip guide itself?

The clips, the clips! Good God man don't dremel your gun! I hade to grind a small amount of material off the outside areas of the ends to get them to fit.

Wish I could see the clip and guide you speak of. I don't understand what exactly you tweaked.

I can post some pics someday if you like. I won't be home for months though, I think I'll be spending thanksgiving in NY with family, I hope. It's going to vary from gun to gun anyway, I just crammed one in in stripper guide and ground where I saw the wear.

When designing the M14 they originally wanted to use 10 round clips but couldn't get them to work. They decided having the troops use 2 5 round clips was the better solution and went with that.
