Ooh, this is a fun one! I like any of your colorful targets.. I think because I have the mental state of a 2 year old.
I am headed out to the range with my new pistols to give thus a whirl. See if the red dot pistol thing works out for me.
Official Entry 100 yard Rifle
Marlin model 100G (circa 1965) single shot bolt action w/ Iron Sights
Benchrest with front sandbags
crappy High Velocity 40gr Thunderbolt, lead round nose, 1255 fps
One of the shots broke the 8 ring so scored a 33. Unsure if there is a 7 ring, and if not I scored a 26.
Just a photo taken off of the interwebs of the rifle used. Plain Jane as can be:
Edit: reread the rules on breaking the ring. It's an 8.
For shits and giggles, I tried out my Marlin 1895SBL in .45-70, iron sights offhand at 100 yards. I swear, these are the only two Marlins I own, just coincidence I shot them both today. Didn't score as well, so I'm just posting to laugh at the size of the holes in the target.
Official Entry 100 yard Rifle
Remington model 522 Viper semi-auto w/iron sights
Benchrest w/front sandbags
high velocity 40gr thunderbolt lead round nose 1255 fps
*showing both targets but score is the same
Score: 24pts (not too shabby considering it was my 1st time shooting further than 50ft!)
@omfgrubert ’s viper from when he was a kid has served me pretty well so far, but can’t wait til my 10-22 gets here! May need to re-do this when it comes in
