Nope. Cubans have been living under communism for well over 50 years now, and are just now getting to this point of wanting the shackles removed. The US is just starting to embrace the communist utopian lifestyle. There is NO WAY we will be demanding freedom in a mere 30 years.

I've been there several times. In full disclosure, we were never allowed off the base at Guantanimo, but we did manage to go diving well offshore. Looking through the chain link fence with concertina wire on top, you could clearly see how the citizens of Cuba lived, and let me tell you, YOU DON'T WANT TO LIVE THAT WAY. Many Cuban citizens work on the base, as civilian employees. Talking to them about their Country is a real eye-opener. First, they look around to see if anyone might overhear them. Then, maybe they'll tell you the truth. Most of the country lives without electricity on a regular basis. Running water and indoor plumbing ? Ha ! We're talking about a population that eats bowls of steam for dinner. Their dwellings are pieces of scrap lumber held together with wire and tape. The big cities that were once prosperous are in better shape, but certainly not good shape. They are perpetually stuck in 1950. Now, I haven't been there since the mid 1980's, and there is a possibility that things have improved a bit, but I wouldn't bet on it. The Castro regime ruled with an iron fist.
The citizens of Cuba that are demanding freedom today were born under the oppression that is communism. I applaud them for standing up and fighting for freedom. I can only hope that the numbers that will inevitably disappear don't dissuade those that are left from continuing to fight. Perhaps in their lifetime Cuba can once again be a destination island.

You may vote your country into communism. But, you have to shoot your way out.
Only elections can determine the will of the people. CIA staged protests by criminals and addicts will not work. It didn't work in Hong Kong, it didn't work in Venezuela, it didn't work in Belarus. CIA funding needs to be cut. It only creates problems around the world and they backfire in a big way.

my wifes Uncle went to Cuba on a cruise, when the passengers got off the boat, all cubans wanted were their water bottles, apparently they have no baby bottle there, they make shift water bottles as baby bottles

I visited Cuba twenty years ago. We stayed on a resort.
We took a bus from the airport. The entire ride there I saw low-end housing and hungry looking cows. Certainly a poor country. As everybody knows a lot of the cars are very old. There were also some new ones--somewhat inexplicably the cabs were often luxury vehicles like audis or mercedes.
Stayed in the resort the entire time except for one short trip when we walked to a local shopping center. It was not run down, but it was small with limited wares on the shelves. The resort was highly rated. It was clean and the food was good, though infuriatingly it was very difficult to find ice. No ice machines in the hotel area.
There was a hut by the pool with a towel guy. He had an undergraduate degree in engineering if I recall correctly. As is often the case with Cubans they are severely underemployed pursuant to their level of education because the economy is terrible.
I was young and naively had some valuables in my checked luggage. I had previously flown to many countries and never once had anything stolen from me. Upon getting home the lovely cubans had ransacked my luggage, stolen a camera plus an heirloom watch. Thankfully I had insurance and got a thousand bucks back. I came to learn that at this time theft by cuban airport workers was so common as to be completely pedestrian; it was for all intents and purposes legal and so common that there's no way the security personnel were not all in on it.
I have no desire to return to the country. I went on a cruise five years ago and we visited jamaica and dominican republic and that is when I decided I am not visiting shitty third world countries ever again for vacations. Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia, Singapore, maybe 1-2 others I'm forgetting. The rest of the world no desire to ever see it.
