We have the same thing and always did. Jan.6 repressions, McCarthyism, numerous supressions of rebelions and uprisings. Maybe not on the same scale, but our neighbors are not trying to assasinate our president and overthrow our government. I can understand their concern.

One party is focused on racism. There are a whole bunch of other issues, where both parties promote a division. Unions, environment, abortions, religion, everything is politicized, even pandemic. Admittedly one party is more outrageous than the other, but both parties thrive on dividing people. This is our system, always was and always will be. Other countries chose a path of National unity. We want to force our way on the entire world.

Mariel boat lift was when Castro opened his jails and sent all of the criminals here. Which was followed by a series of airplane hijackings back into Cuba. Many of them hated here and risked their life to get back. I remember this in real time, maybe you should do a web search. Such anecdotal stories don't mean anything. Overwhelming majority of those who illegally cross our Southern boarder come from non-communist Latin America, where life truly sucks.

For the last 60 years, the Cuban government has been telling it's citizens that the reason their economy sucks is that the US STILL HAS AN EMBARGO IN PLACE. They have ( nearly ) the entire population convinced that just beyond the horizon, the US has a fleet of warships surrounding the entire island, blocking all commerce from all other countries. They tell whatever lies they think they need to in order to stoke the fear needed to remain in power. It's a totalitarian regime. Very much like North Korea, the radio only transmits "approved" content. Propaganda.
My direct family members lived through and escaped from communist regimes. Although I was born here in free America, I know all about the realities of life under communism. None of it is pretty, no matter how much lipstick you want to put on it.

OK. There is no continuos economic embargo against Cuba. The longest embargo in word history. There were no additional economic sanctions by the U.S. placed during pandemic. All made up by the Cuban government.
While the US has refused to trade with Cuba, it has not prevented other countries from doing so. Canada freely trades with Cuba. Cigars from Cuba have been available in Canada forever. Canadian citizens are free to travel to and from Cuba. The US has less control over Cuba than you want to admit. More likely, their piss poor economy is the fault of their iron fisted dictator. Funny, it seems to me that ALL dictatorships throughout the world share that same economy.
It also prevents foreign companies who are doing business in the U.S. from doing business with Cuba. That's a lot of companies from all over the world.
Communist China is the second biggest economy in the world and growing. Stick that in your narrow indoctrinated mind.
