Well some of his statements certainly are true and he’s making some waves for sure. He’s right that when God left men and women in society and schools we have more issues.
I’m working to make things right in my life and maybe he is as well. Who knows. I think he’s a bit nuts but there are a lot of things I can explain in my life that can only be explained supernaturally. I’m walking through a tough time right now and I downloaded a new app to help me out and everything has been pointed right at my struggle. There’s no way for that app to know. Agree in part. I'm not overly religious myself but have my own version of faith for my own reasons. I also think that society started going down the shitter when Judeo-Christian values started going out of the door. We've replaced traditional religion with secular consumerism and wokism and look what its wrought?
Having said that Mayor Adams is a hypocrite? Most of his city commissioners are political hacks who got the job because of patronage or they sucked enough dick to get them to the top. My full-time (non-judicial) job brings me into NYC government frequently and the long-time employees there (who are all liberal themselves) all universally say how bad Adams, his people, and his policies are. The best I've heard from them is, and I quote "Bill di Blasio was the worst mayor that NYC has ever had. Eric Adams is a close second."
I also wonder if God told him that it was ok to eat out for free at his buddy's restaurants and get thousands of dollars in bottle service on the City's tab?

The problem is letting people have power, not the rhetoric they use to justify seizing it.
Not sure what a "zealously secular government" is, but we certainly dodged a bullet by living in a country that wasn't founded on religion, no matter how hard the right tries to shoehorn it.

A zealously secular government would be one where the government (or party) assumes the role of religion in society.
For instance, most communist regimes, where they expect people to be devoted to the state, and see any notion of "god" to be a threat to their control.
It's basically the same thing as a theocracy, but they claim their magic can violate the laws of economics instead of physics.
The Spanish inquisition was no fun, but I can assure you the Khymer Rouge was worse.
The only *good* government is one that takes an agnostic position, i.e. it is neutral towards religion.
Atheist zealots are every bit as dangerous as the theist ones.

I certainly don't want to live in a real world Handmaid's Tale or a theocracy. However, I feel that atheism can lead to nihilism and the secularism that we seem to have today has led to degeneracy.
Frankly I don't care what you believe in or don't believe in or who you sleep with as long as they're of age but the more I look at our world I see a deep slide into hedonistic nihilism and degeneracy. Drag queen story hours and the new transsexual narrative are examples of this.
A friend of mine's wife works in an elementary school. She says that about a third of the kids identify as LGBTQ+. That's not a natural increase because of more openness in society. That's indoctrination. I see a clear parallel between that and the replacement of Judeo-Christian values with wokism which while not the same as atheism is adjacent.
Oh yeah, I forgot, you don't understand the definition of atheist and agnostic. My bad.

A-theist. A meaning without and theist being God.
A gnostic. A still means without, and gnostic means knowledge.
One holds a belief that God doesn't exist.
One doesn't believe they know.

Atheist: Without a belief in God or God's.
Agnostic: Without knowledge of something.
Hence the 2 cannot be mutually exclusive as they describe different things.
That is not due to atheism. That is due to zealotry.
A true atheist doesn't need to shout from the ramparts, just as a truly religious person doesn't. Both quietly go about their lives, living the way they wish.
It's the zealot that must not only shout from the ramparts, but also demand that you acknowledge and agree with their views. Their lives are so shallow they must have constant reassurance they are on the "right path" by hearing their views mirrored in those around them.

They can be, because you are trying to separate belief and knowledge in a way that's impossible.
If you believe something, you inherently believe that you know it.
So, you can be agnostic (i.e. you believe that you don't know), but you can't then also be a theist or atheist. You can't simultaneously believe it and not believe that you know it. The concept is absurd.
And it really is your (and a few other people like you) version. Just like the "pregnant men", the vast majority of people recognize that they are wrong, regardless of what they think.
Your link itself describes outsiders as "non believers" LOL.
It's very simple, either you are 100% certain that God exists/doesn't exist, or you are uncertain.
If you aren't 100% certain, then it's irrelevant whether you lean towards exists or not exists, you simply do not have the sort of unconditional "belief" that faith requires.
That means those are the only 3 possible categories, which correspond to the common definitions of theist, atheist, and agnostic.
The fact that you have some weird group who want to pretend there is a 4th option doesn't change either reality, or the fact that the vast majority of people do not use those terms in the way you are suggesting.
