I'd be interested in knowing the instructors credentials and experience. When I sat in on my wife's CCW course, first thing the instructor did was clear all the firearms used for instruction. When we went to the range, the muzzles only pointed in one direction.

"Police say the instructor from Lifechoice LLC was teaching a CPL class when he unholstered his gun during a demonstration, pointed it at the door and pulled the trigger. He was unaware that his gun was loaded."
?!?! Whatever happened to the first rule - All guns are always loaded. I cannot imagine any instructor that I have taken a class from doing anything like that.
That can't be good for business.

I don't think it's safe for him to teach any more classes. After that incident, can't say I would value his knowledge about CC anything.

That sounds like a story some anti made up to fuel the fire. But it is so childishly outragerous it fails to do so.

Ya know, as I'm getting older (a grossly immature 59 in a couple weeks) I can see myself having a brain fart as I'm unholstering at the end of the day, when I reflexively actuate the decocker before stashing my PX4 for the night, and instead pulling the DA trigger for no reason.
Inexcusable, yes, but I'd get that. Like leaving the house wearing no pants and two pair of underwear (I mean, who hasn't...?)

Reminds me of that old video of the police instructor with the Glock as he announced to the class that he was "probably the only one here qualified to handle this weapon", and immediately thereafter shoots himself, literally, in the foot.
Have you seen the extended version, where he tries to pick up another gun, and the class is like:

Things like this will discourage new shooters from wanting to seek out education. People like this need to be weeded out

Not every one is qualified to teach a class, He was never taught the check ,check and re check. Some one needs to get a list of his students and get them re trained. I have met some instructors from businesses that teach how to handle and shoot a fire arm and that there only credentials are from years of handling guns. The NRA has spectacular course that certify a person on how to teach, then how to do it safely
