any opinions on whether to buy a Kimber or Sig concealed carry 9mm. I tend toward Kimber 1911 style pistols but am not adverse to trying a Sig
I'm in Buffalo area as for how much I was thinking like $600-$650. It's about $900 worth of stuff. I paid $720 for the gun alone.it has custom made walnut grips too. I have the original grips as well.was thinking more of the micro. where are u and how much?
Podmonkey nailed it...I have to ask, if you want a 1911 why 9mm? If you like 9mm why a 1911?
No worries. I understand. The gun is near perfect. There are a few fine scratches near the muzzle. If I took a picture they would not even show up. Other than that it's great. A tiny nick in the bottom from inserting the mag and one by the take down pin from reinserting the takedown pin. I'm being really picky. As for meeting in Batavia we could do that if you want. You could even shoot it if you know of a range/FFl around there. I'm in no hurry so if you want to proceed at some point just reach outprice seems fair but Buffalo is a bit too far for me to travel to see the gun. I some time get to Batavia if I don't buy something before the next time I go there I"ll contact you and maybe we could meet and I could look over the gun
1150 to 1250 fps vs 700 to 850 fps from a 3 inch barrel.I have to ask, if you want a 1911 why 9mm? If you like 9mm why a 1911?
Why bother with a 1911 at all then is my point.1150 to 1250 fps vs 700 to 850 fps from a 3 inch barrel.
Cardinalny has a good choice. Some Models can be found new at a reasonable price. For example, the P938 can be routinely had for under 450 on GB (400 + 15 shipping + local transfer) in the Sports model (essentially Cardinalny's equinox with hogue rubber grip less the polished slide but it usually includes a bonus extended 7rd mag along with the std 6rd mag). I love mine I recently got after hearing recommendations from Cardinalny and this forum. I find it a sound choice as a BUG, or in deeper cover where a larger choice can not conceal. Personally if this was going to be your only EDC, however, and you were not going to include pocket / ankle carry but were just holster carrying IWB / OWB, I would opt for a larger single stack.View attachment 19809
I have the Sig P938 Equinox and love it. Very easy to conceal, pocket carry, beautiful fit and finish, expensive compared to polymer pocket pistols. Has many different color combinations to choose from.
I’ve never shot a Kimber micro 9.
Most 1911 manufacturers have 9mm in a 4.25 inch commander length barrel. There are also a number of nice sub commander 4.25 in barrels around e.g. Sig Ultra, Springfield EMP, Dan Wesson, Colt.who else is making a small 1911 style pistol in 9mm?
thanks for the links i haven't thought about colt in a long time looks like they may be in the runningMost 1911 manufacturers have 9mm in a 4.25 inch commander length barrel. There are also a number of nice sub commander 4.25 in barrels around e.g. Sig Ultra, Springfield EMP, Dan Wesson, Colt.

Get a micro. Personally i would (and have) get it in 380 as they are a bit smaller. Mine is a pocket gun. Pocket gun = smallest possible.
Good background info. I had a similar quest. It looks like your main choices would be the Sig, Colt, and Kimber. I have shot all three and picked the Sig. No doubts. Shot better for me. In this format, 9mm can challenge the EDC reliability expectations ( go bang everytime, no exceptions) in essentially a one pound or less gun. Although most of the delivered guns for these and other similar sized choices are trouble free, exceptions are not rare. My decision to chose a P938 also included the fact that Sig has a lifetime warranty, customer service is quite good, and service is pretty quick. Kimber and Colt limit their warranty to one year but I am aware of times they stood behind a product outside of the warranty. Similarly I am also aware of sig providing warranty service to owners who were not the original owner covered under their lifetime warranty. To confuse you even more, the 9mm variants to accommodate the larger round are slightly larger / heavier than their 380 siblings but that may eliminate them for consideration for some shooters. I believe that the Lehigh xtreme penetrator / xtreme defender bullet (also used in Underwood rounds) provide a potency that can help bring 380 into consideration as an EDC for more carriers. Although less impressive, the XTP bullet used in several manufacturers rounds provide 380 performance that was not available several years ago. The 1911 like 9mm and 380 acp variants pocket carry and shoot differently. (I own both a P238 and P938). Sometimes the P938 pocket carries better (on some pants it better fills the pocket and does not shift) and sometimes the P238 pocket carries better (on lighter fabric material the lesser 380 weight, most of which is from the lighter round, visually pulls the fabric less). For me both shoot well (as fast and accurate as some larger service size choices) but some shooters find follow up shots are noticeably quicker with the lighter shooting 380.so much to say! 1st i already have a smith body guard 380 with a laser 2nd i personally like the 1911 platform and have trained with it for over 30 years is it a dinasour yup but so am i 3rd 9mm has a bit more punch than my 380. i've tried the striker fiered glocks and m&p's they just don't work for me i don't hate them just don't like them very much the triggers aren't my cup of tea although i had a chance to shoot the beretta apx at the range the other day and it had the best stock trigger on that type of gun for me so far. if i ever try another striker fired polymer gun i think that would be it.
I like the XTP but the extreme penteator or defender has me concerned about ricohettes . A hollowpoint deforms enough that a ricoheetes might not penetrate as much if someone was hit or travel as far.Good background info. I had a similar quest. I don't know if such a thing has recorded statistics but back in the days before hollow points when FMJ's, Semi Wadcutters, and Hard Cast Flat Points where the norm being used, there wasn't a high incidence rate of ricochets that made a difference for people to be concerned about.I like the XTP but the extreme penteator or defender has me concerned about ricohettes . Is there any data out there on it.
