Micro Roni or KPos?

This is for a 10" 357 SIG glock and later a 10mm one to backpack/carry in the woods for defense.

I am leaning towards the kpos based on the quality and features but I know the roni, specially the new
micro are now lighter and with the stupid bolt release of the gen1 below.

Who has what and any experiences, pros/cons sharing?

I wanted one too. The lawyers here were concerned with these highlighted clauses below.

I will respect your wishes despite the numerous threads you’ve trashed due to you not liking barrel length when ballistics wasn’t asked on other threads regarding AR pistols and Remington 700 pistols for situations like this. Just be mindful of that.

Anyway, weight savings is the whole reason for something like this. The Roni is lighter and the front hand hold/ gripping surface is more ergonomic. It has a better angle for a more natural hold. It also has a trigger protector which could come in handy if assembled and carried while climbing stuff and slung in front of you or assembled in a backpack. The Roni also allows the Glock to be inserted for use without any changes to the pistol so you can put it in and take it out and immediately use it without having to attach anything to the slide. Also, folding stocks can cause stability issues. It can rattle a bit more compared to an Arm Brace.

One can have all sort of opinions since this is a free country but the facts are the facts and there is no arguing with those.

Many Pistol calibers (actual pistol calibers) do best in barrels between 5 to 10 inches. Actually most loads in 9mm do well up to 13-14" with marginal gains, and after 14" they actually loose speed like carbines. same thing can happen with a 22LR and 16" carbines.
A rifle round shot from a pistol is a complete different story, you might loose a lot of potential with pistols and even 16" carbines like for example
a 308. That is why a geo metro engine has a geo metro body and a tahoe engine goes into a tahoe chasis or a nice size pickup and they do no t mix.

I like the latest Micro-Roni plus they have a non-nfa as well. Backpacking is a matter of size and weight more than any other reason and the fact
that are licensed guns (pistol license) so there is no need to keep them in the trunk or locked in many states wherever one travels or moves to.

I am leaning towards the new Roni because of the weight savings but that is why I am asking if someone has either to see what their
experience is. This is not to make a carbine or anything simply have a more versatil pistol and the way to hold it is going to be mid size
flashlight like some people do supported or unsupported.

Okay??? Not sure what any of that has to do with the subject at hand and not even sure if you want a rebuttal being that some points in there can be disproven but for me the trigger cover on the Roni would be an important feature being that it’s a backpacking gun to be carried rather than a range toy where one doesn’t have to worry about inadvertent trigger pulls when jostled around to potentially be snagged on things in the woods.

I never had one but that would be the main reason why I would pick one over the other.

I will tell you, I have looked at these before. I would love one. I just wish they were a bit less expensive. I am cheap.

I'm following, as I'm possibly interested in the roni.

I'll try to keep law interpretation out of this conversation if you'd like, but just to state my feelings I would like to add

1 50oz weight limit is determined by the manufacturerd gun. In this case, the Glock. Add on accessories don't count.

2 the brace was designed and approved to allow single handed shooting.

I would like to hear from others also. Perhaps I'll start another thread down the road if you don't want to clutter this one up.

People like them when it is time to pull the trigger and they always go bang no matter what the situation.
No question they are not the most sleek guns but they are the AK of the pistols designed to dispose bullets reliably.
I see pistols as tools for defense rather than something one might have as a specialty or exclusive gun.

BTW the new micro roni does not have the trigger cover that seems to be a love or hate and
it is so much compact and lighter. I think they were forced to remove all those bulky features and
just make it simple as other companies are making the cradles and sights or brace support very
light and have proven to be more practical.
They are not practical for every day carry but also the smaller they are for a bag or backpack
the better they are for this type of transport where size and weight matter the most.

Does the kpos have a way of attaching a light? That's important. I'd rather have a side charging handle than an AR style. Lighter is a no brainer. I like the looks of the roni better even though not so important. And lastly you can call it a macaroni. That's all I got.

Having not handled either, I think I'd have to lean towards the kpos on aesthetics only. If I handled one, the ergos might change my mind.

Yes and that is what I am going to do to have a std. Mid size light that with the 10" barrel gives a nice burn and speed.
I do not care about the fake muzzle device so I will just replace it with a ring and stop and also people will not mistake this with a shroud whatever that means in the history books anyway. It is just ugly anyway. I like things plain.

This is the No-NFA Micro-Roni Gen4

The nice thing is the slide release is now the actual one w/o the other bulky connector.
But then still don't like that bulky "Safety" cantilever and the other angle under the flashlight.
I would pretty much prefer just a higher rail and then put whatever that in my case will be the flashlight.





In other words the brace support and the simple cradle for the gun.

A no-NFA chasis can be many things but the things is not for sure:

A) no-NFA (it is sold as such).
B) It is not a shroud. One could install a shroud or even a silencer but not in NYS. Not even a threaded barrel unless one has the permit/stamp to do it. Some might also think it is a receiver but the barrel is already wrapped by both the lower and upper receiver of the actual pistol so like the ATF says it is a pistol chassis to install optics and brace support. If you hold the pistol with the other hand by the receiver that is part of the original firearm you are not on violation of anything. most people will hold one hand over the other but if you have there a flashlight (not a grip) it doesn't make it a violation neither. The brace doesn't make it a violation of safe act as it is a no-nfa item.
C) It IS NOT a No-Go semiautomatic in NYS. The firearm in this case is a semiautomatic glock with detachable magazine integrated as part of the grip and a firearm that should be already approved, registered in the carry license in the state/s where it is going to be carried.
D) It doesn't add or remove anything to the letality of the carry pistol and licensed caliber. It just makes the gun a tad more confortable and easier to hold aim.

So sure there can be even other interpretations and people should make sure they consider their specific situation in their state, city, district, LE/civilian and what not whatever needs to be considered to be compliant. So make sure of your choices in terms of threaded or ported barres,
integrated muzzle brakes, etc...

So it is not about not caring about NYS or the legislation in whatever sate one is going to carry but I think there is also a bit of paranioa that comes along with a simple no-nfa chasis. The only "raging boner" I have seen from a LEO in the few instances you see a chasis has been in IDPA training sessions where regular civilians, retired or active LEO, Fire or military shoot together and they want to take a turn to try out a carry gun with this support. Obviously some folks have their NFA approved more 'exotic' guns that those are more in sync with something they might carry for their jobs (like swat) although are not duty guns in those ranges.

Just because it is registered, it doesn’t mean that it cannot be altered to be illegal. You have tried to argue that before with me when a pistol was turned into a rifle with a mech tech and was wrong.

With that said, I agree with you. It is not a shroud. We all know what a shroud really is. You are preaching to the choir. The question is whether some cop who wants to make an issue of it says that it is a shroud based on the NY definition of a shroud.

Do you remember the whole gravity knife fiasco? A gravity knife was a specific paratrooper knife that’s blade fell down from the grip and locked into place. That didn’t stop law enforcement from considering regular locking folders as gravity knives and lots got arrested for them due to the definition of the gravity knife.

The point is that this thing which I want myself by the way, isn’t foolproof legal according to all of law enforcement’s eyes. That’s the point that is trying to be conveyed to you. Sure one cop may not bat an eye. The 2nd may not either. It may stop there entirely if you never run into another cop. But if you do run into a 3rd cop that bats an eye, you may be gravely inconvenienced. That’s what is being said to you.

You can do what you want at your own risk that you are willing to take. Just do not think that you cannot ever be arrested for this. There is a possibility and that is what we are trying to make you aware of.

We do not care what people do or buy. All we do is try to make them aware of things they didn’t see previously. There was lots of things I fought tooth and nail for here that I knew was correct. But after showing a non gun person the law, and then what I wanted, they said that it was illegal according to how written. Those non gun persons could be cops.

Wait a bit. A friend from IDF who is friends with the owner of zahal was told CAA is going to release
a pretty sleek and lighter non-nfa one with the slingshot and we know everything they make is rock solid.

...just make sure the NFA rules apply unless you get a non-nfa one.

Hmm. Never thought about a longer barrel. I wanted to get one of these when they first started coming out but thought that really you're just getting additional points of contact. But with a longer barrel it would actually make more sense. So I think you said you wanted to use this as a backpacker? I'm the farthest you could be from a safety sally. In fact I would say I'm considered a dangerous dan to safety sallies but I would definitely want that trigger guard if I planned on not having my hands on the piece at all times. Will you carry it without one in the pipe when in a backpack? In that case sure. But if not then I would want the guard. The guard makes it like a holster. But you're American so do as you please

You're comparing a slide with skeletonized machining which isn't the same thing at all. Just because you machined fancy designs into a critically required component for normal operation like the slide, does not make it a barrel shroud or an accessory that would be categorized or defined as an "assault pistol" feature under the definition. You don't need to explain to me about NFA laws and what a pistol brace is and how so and so is intended to be used. I'm not talking about NFA approved braces. I'm talking about NYS safe act laws and "assault pistol" definitions.

These kits are secondary accessories that would be defined like anything else as additional features of the handgun. Just because you have a legally registered handgun doesn't mean you can start sticking secondary hand grips and barrel shrouds on it because it was legal when you registered it in NYS; that's not how it works. Sure, you can port your own barrel and slide, but those are not accessories and not features. This is a PDW style chassis that has an extended shroud coming off the secondary hand grip, all of which partially encircles the barrel. Again, people will agree with you that want to ignore these obvious observations.

The other thing I find funny is when LEO "bravely" admit that they don't care about the safe act laws. "I'm going to get this anyways!" woah! The safe act doesn't effect you remember, HA! sure you do. It only effects the people that you or your partner are told to arrest when they're in violation of the safe act.

I'll reiterate, if these were legal, we would be seeing them for sale in gun stores flying off the shelves like fixed mag AR's are now, and at our ranges, and they'd be shipping the kits out all the time to NYers. I just don't understand if we're going to pretend that they are legal, why not just buy a b&t tp9 with high cap mags or any other list of illegal handguns in NYS and we can identify them as safe act legal firearms and or accessories too? I'd love to be shown without a doubt that I'm wrong or at least to a reasonable degree, but still the substantial evidence in front of me shows clearly otherwise.

I took it more like he didn't want to spend so much on a toy or the arbitrarily of the non-nfa options that btw has
been clarified in this and other forums.
I general I think people need to chilax a little with the whole cops vs. the people thing. Cops are just like us,
regular people and there are bad ones and good ones and everything in the middle. lucky many more good ones than bad ones.
What people need to be worried a lot is about the Politicians and other forms of parasites surrounding us.
