The polls were supposed to reflect the national stage. If you disregard every state between the coasts then the polls were spot on. If you correctly include the heartland the polls were seriously off base. Electoral vote was 304-227.

Take away Los Angeles County and the race was a dead heat. Now pull NYC and Hillary was 2 million votes behind Trump. Ex Chicago she was down by 3+ million. Maybe the polls accurately reflected LA, NYC and Chicago but not the USA taken as a whole.

Our area is overwhelmingly republican, so, most of these votes are probably for Molinaro.
Reports from all over the state say the upstate turn out far exceeds normal.
This year, and maybe only this year, we had a candidate that could do it.

You really think that Molinaro has much of a chance? The closest he has been is 13 points, and that's because support for Cuomo went down more than Molinaro. It's not like support for Molinaro went up. I've offered a wager to a bunch of people now. I'll bet that you can add up Molinaro's and Sharpe's votes, and they won't be above Cuomo. I disagree that Astorino is more well known. Nobody local to Rochester that I know had heard about him before this election. I've seen significantly more anti-Molinaro ads by Cuomo than I have seen pro-Molinaro or anti-Cuomo ads.

That's good, but you live in a small town, right? That's not representative of the state.
Statewide voter registration was up 1.7%. Democrats were up 3% while Republicans were up .2%
In Monroe County (2nd most populous upstate), Democrat enrollment was up 1.7%. Republican enrollment went DOWN just under 1%.
My polling place was busier than I've ever seen it. I'm not convinced they were voting red.
