Lets say someone happens to be standing next to a Monroe county police officer.
That someone just ate at Taco Bell... Do ya see where I'm going with this... LOL
Now that someone lets one rip and it sounds like a out of tune trombone.
That someone didn't do it on purpose, the offending fart was one of those sneaky bastards.
Ya know the ones that just kinda happen with no warning.
Under this law, would that someone be sent to jail and get a criminal record for annoying the Monroe county officer.

Over the years I have seen a lot of volunteer firemen that just not too right in the head ... Every fire department seems to have one or two. ... Almost social misfits never found their place in life ... One fellow I worked with had a police scanner on his hip all thee time .. and it was turned on every day ... Shudder to think he would have the power to send someone to jail for a year.... .. See if you would keep any gun after that ...

I used to like Cheryl. But since she lost the election, but since she lost the election, she has gone full Cuomo. I'm all for looking out for our LE/FD/EMS folks, but this is just bullshit.
Filming is protected by the constitution and has TONS of precedent and case law.
The problem is that no court has ruled on the distance from which you can film. The law says "from a distance that doest interfere with law enforcement". Some cops think that distance is 15 feet, others think its 200 yards. MOST judges believe 15 feet is adequate and alot of cops have been reprimanded or fired for messing with filmers over 15 feet.

It seems that there are so many egregious, but nonetheless implemented "laws", that the only places left to exert control over the populace, using pathetic laws like this, are those directly violating the BOR/Constitution. Again, intentional.

Welcome to the peoples Republic of the United States.
Last week on a Thursday night, on a 17 mile stretch of Rt 390 S between Rush and Livonia I counted 5 State Trooper Cars. 3 hiding in the median, 2 on a traffic stop in the Southbound lane performing a field sobriety test.
On the border between Monroe and Livingston County were 2 Livingston County Sheriff cars in the same median covering both the North and Southbound lanes.
Now....I'm not against vehicle and traffic law enforcement nor am I against keeping the intox off the roadways but 7 cars in a 17 mile stretch from two agencies ?
No way you can convince me that NYS isn't a full blown Police State....and regardless of how "good and well intentioned" they appear to be, I don't trust them to do the right thing...ever.
They've become "Revenuers" who serve at the behest of the political class and the citizenry in their eyes are nothing more than subjects. There are of course exceptions to the rule but by and large, we mean nothing to them other than another "collar."

Agreed the law is vague and going to be problematic. But we've all seen the videos of "innocent bystanders" and "concerned relatives" up in first responders' faces while they are trying to do their jobs, which this is trying to alleviate, I'd like to hear from some of our LEOS / Firemen / EMTs on what they think of it.

The purpose of all those stops have nothing to do with traffic safety, even the departments involved will admit it.
It is so they can conduct searches that would be otherwise illegal.
They are pulling over speeders and people with taillights out, but they are looking for drugs.
Should be ruled illegal but they get away with it.
