Want to get your thoughts on the shooter of the year challenge for monthly winners.

here is something I am considering.

I snail mail each winner the official set of targets for the category they have entered through out the year. If people enter all three categories they get three targets, if they only entered the pistol they will only get the pistol target.

Only the official target can be posted for entry. You can shoot as many copies as you want for practice. Only the official target will be counted for score.

Official Targets can only be posted three days before the event closes. They can be shot anytime after you receive them but you have to keep it a secret until 3 days before the event close. That way it keeps the surprise factor up. Tie breakers will be date and time of entry.

What do you all think?

I can't even remember to bring my printed-out targets to the range and you want me to wait and post 3 days before the end? If you're going to ask for that just have people send their targets to you.

Shoot a target with a good score post it! Then if someone shoots one better go try to shoot another better then them! I just think this gets us shooting more and that can't be a bad thing! I know it make more work for @dsdmmat . Just my 2 cents.

I am trying to get ideas for the "shooter of the year" challenge. Not posting targets until the end of the challenge will get people out shooting it, instead of not bothering because @nortatoga posted a perfect target on the first day of the month.

How about awarding points to the top 3 finishers in each monthly category and total the score at the end of the year. First place 5 points, second place 3 points and third place 1 point or something similar. You can award shooter of the year in each category and/or an overall top shooter.

Where would the fun be in that? We are pitting the best shooters on the board against each other for the shooter of the year title. There will be blood this way. The other way it is just paper cuts. Lmao

Oh I am! Range opens at 0800 and shuts down whenever dusk hits. I will pack a lunch and make a day of it. I have over 1k rounds to burn!
I bought 240 extra rounds of 77gr IMI for the match even!

Awarding points for placement is good if you are a business trying to keep people coming throughout the year. My Paintball team won a Summer Shootout Series that way. We could afford to make it to all 10 events and in the last event of the season we had enough points to win the series without taking the field.

We want people to have to shoot the event to win the title. In order to be in the event they have to win one monthly category.
