Maybe not a permit, but they will regulate what you can use to mow your grass with and very soon.Sadly I keep joking that one day you’ll need a permit to mow the grass.

Any biker that doesn't pay attention is a moron. I can only speak for myself. I always look where I am going and what is going on around me. The ONLY time I don't stop at a stop sign is when I slow up coming to one and look to see if there are any cars coming in any direction. If not, I ride through. There are also the rails to trails in my town and the bikes and walkers have stop signs and guess what they don’t follow them. The bike ride into the roads all the time without looking, stopping, or anything.
I understand what you're saying and to a point I agree. The driving test in this state is a joke and they'll give almost anyone a license, but even if you make more qualifications for obtaining a license it won't change the idiots around you. There will still be idiots jumping off the curb in front of you or bicyclists that refuse to follow the traffic laws. Some people don't care if they screw someone over.I don't see this as all bad.
A lot of smaller cities in America people are very polite but they are totally oblivious to pedestrians and other travelers.
They would literally give a driver license to anyone w/o a clue about good driving and best practices and why we have so many bad drivers and bad habits.
In the big cities you don't even have the patience or politeness so it is 10 times worse.
I had to get driver licenses in other countries due to work and while the US is not the worse driving the tests and education are way behind.I understand what you're saying and to a point I agree. I will say there are are way to many drivers that don't pay attention but this isn't much different from the gun control shit they're pushing. A handful of people do something stupid and the states reaction is to screw everyone. They won't punish the person who is at fault
I could stand out there for 5 minutes and provide you with examples. My mother lives right there and has called the city many times because the bike stop sign is dinner plate sized and ignored regularly. They hear tires squeaking to a hill many times.Any biker that doesn't pay attention is a moron. I can only speak for myself. I always look where I am going and what is going on around me. Have had a few pick up trucks recently impatient when they are behind someone that is too afraid to pass us even when they have plenty of room to do so. They eventually wind up blowing by us revving their engine or passing so close you can feel the breeze. Assholes. There are also people that are cool and give us plenty of room when there are no cars coming in the opposite direction and there are some that ride close to us even if there are no cars coming in the opposite direction. Assholes.People don’t kill cyclists; cars do. Ban cars. Especially pickup trucks operated by inbred redneck eejits. Amazon deliveries exempted.
I'm sure you can. Again, that doesn't mean we all do. There are assholes in every profession, sport, etc..I could stand out there for 5 minutes and provide you with examples. Oh absolutely and I agree with you 100% on that.I'm sure you can. Again, that doesn't mean we all do. There are assholes in every profession, sport, etc..
I will say from a drivers perspective it’s annoys the hell out of me when I see a group of bikers taking up the entire road just because they want to ride side by side so they can talk. There are bike lanes there and they could not ride 3-4 deep. Around me these large group bike rides are getting popular and at times there are 50-80 bikers riding and it’s crazy annoying.Have had a few pick up trucks recently impatient when they are behind someone that is too afraid to pass us even when they have plenty of room to do so. We will periodically ride side by side but always go back into single file when there are cars riding up behind us. Common courtesy and safety. Pisses me off that I get associated with idiots like that. Plus, we choose routes that are more side roads than anything else to avoid the traffic but periodically have to go on a road that has more traffic to get to them.I will say from a drivers perspective it’s annoys the hell out of me when I see a group of bikers taking up the entire road just because they want to ride side by side so they can talk. Coming back I saw 4 cyclists preparing to enter a thruway bridge and I was shaking my head. My wife said well what do you want them to do since it’s the only way to get onto the island? My response was it’s ok to do things unsafe and illegal if it’s the only way? She didn’t like it, but I’m correct. While doing driver training with my 16 year old daughter , we were on a local straight-away that was slightly uphill. As she crested the hill, there was a lone bicyclist in the middle of our lane, happily peddling like 10 mph in a 50 mph zone. Daughter instinctively swerved to avoid him, in doing so, pushed us over the double-yellow line and we were almost both killed in a head on collision. Hysterical, she slowly pulled over to the shoulder for us both to regroup. As the cyclist pedaled by us, he screamed at the top of his lungs "asshole". Im a very patient man, but if my daughter wasnt with me, that might have had a very different outcome. I get sharing the road, but use your friggin head.
That’s because you’re clearly not an asshole.I have no issue with bikers riding on roads intelligently. 2-3 weeks a log 50 cyclists were on a road and they were riding 4 deep causing an asshole driver to come into my lane to get around them.We will periodically ride side by side but always go back into single file when there are cars riding up behind us. Don't know. I never ride anywhere where there are tolls. Why the hell would I?Do cyclists have to pay tolls?
If not, fuck that, they should. Just like everybody else.
Bear mountain bridge or something? Seems like it could be a nice area to ride.Don't know. I never ride anywhere where there are tolls. Why the hell would I?
Shoulders are often littered with garbage and rocks that you can't see in your car, but it'll destroy a bike tire. What you think is fine, often isn't.How about a license for all bike riders. In My area there is a marked shoulder at least 4 feet wide yet the "bikers" continue to ride 4 or 5 wide and into the road while the road surface is no different from the shoulder. Tough to pass on straights and very hard to pass on curves.
While annoying, losing 30 seconds of your commute while waiting to safely pass a cyclist, isn't going to kill you. Getting impatient and you doing something stupid COULD kill THEM. Yes it can be annoying, but it's not worth killing someone over, and it'd be your fault. Bicycles DO have a right to the road (not the shoulder).I will say from a drivers perspective it’s annoys the hell out of me when I see a group of bikers taking up the entire road just because they want to ride side by side so they can talk. Sure I get that. The scenario I described was bikes driving the opposite direction as me and another vehicle coming into my lane so yes it would be me that was hurt or killed and not the cyclists since the vehicle coming in my lane went around them. While annoying, losing 30 seconds of your commute while waiting to safely pass a cyclist, isn't going to kill you. I wasn’t necessarily replying directly to do, it was more of an “in general” comment. As a cyclist I get frustrated by the impatient drivers, and general disdain for cyclists, that try to pass on blind corners or hills instead of waiting a few seconds for a clear view. It’s a two way street and a lot of drivers forget that.Sure I get that. Im aware of the rules and regulations my point is they didn’t need to be 3-4 deep so they can chit chat and they would be much safer as would everyone else on the road.
In My area the shoulders are just as clear as the road. People put their trash pickup on the edge of the lawn..not on the shoulder. I drive through My area every day and the only traffic that screws things up is the bikes and their IGNORANT ridersShoulders are often littered with garbage and rocks that you can't see in your car, but it'll destroy a bike tire.
