Most Underrated Tools For Bugout Kit?

I carry a couple of things in my bugout box (kept in my bronco) that I haven't seen a lot of people carrying. The biggest two are a CBRN gas mask and a Stanley Fatmax. If you haven't heard of the Fatmax, it's a glorious entry tool that doubles as a solid club :)

I'm a big believer in both items, but especially the Fatmax. It got me thinking, is there anything you guys carry that you think other's overlook?

Just a heads up there's more than 1 size. I work for a college and we had a guy buy some 1 time and the size we use was not on the 4 way.

Very true. The overwhelming vast majority of silcocks sold and installed today will be one of these sizes.

No tool will ever be perfect. When I worked for the Plumbing warehouse, we would get some special ordered sizes. Not sure the reason for using an off size, but they are out there.

I'm not sure if they are an off size on purpose to deter people screwing with them or what but we found out the hard way we had a bunch of water keys they didn't turn our spigots on ...always thought they are handy to have in a vehicle or pack anyway.

I guess I dont get it, where does one find sillcocks without handles other than I guess urban settings? I honestly dont think I have ever encountered one in my day to day? Its not like one gives a shit about the sillcock in a SHTF situation, vicegrip that bitch.

Def, more urban. Most are recessed so vicegrips etc. Will not work. Most commercial bldgs exterior water spigots are going to need the key.

Nearly every commercial building will have outdoor water supplies. Hosebib or a recessed shut on/off. Visegrips will not fit. If all hell breaks loose, this may be the only clean water source. Small tool may become invaluable

I have found that being dirty takes on a horrible mental toll.

Simple things, like mentioned above, wet wipes, toothpaste and Brush. Deodorant.

There had many times in the Army that a full shower was not available for days and days on end.

In Egypt, years back, I went 11 days without a full shower; wet wipes were like gold.

Lace your boots with survival Paracord (small wire and fire starter inside) lolz

Something to store water, water pills, a life straw, a tarp or emergency mylar type blanket, small first aid kit, flashlight, small battery (usb charger), a knife, an axe, a Leatherman, a set of pliers, channel locks, hacksaw blade, file, extra socks, wipes, small toothbrush toothpaste, compass, wind up shortwave radio, .22lrband other ammo, some sort of commodity (silver, etc), passport, field knife, defense knife, bug spray, and at least 3 (days) food packs... Ehhhhhh, I could go on!

For the car... Simple, water, tarp, some tools, first aid! Always some $ in the vehicle also for gas or otherwise in emergency.

I am not going to suggest any items however I am going to suggest to take a weekend and camp outside and live with what you have in that bag. Ask people 2ho have land to camp or permission to use a perimeter for your project.
After that experience you will know exactly what you are missing and what you dont need anymore.

Pen and paper. If you cannot organize your thoughts, you'll miss something and you'll waste time. Time is your most valuable asset. Order of operations are important. You need to be efficient and remember what you're doing.

They sell lace ends that crimp... Easy peasy! And all sorts of other kinda clamps, buckles, etc. The lace ends work nice though. For sizing, just size it up to the old laces... Or...

10 - 59"

All +/- personal like...

This was going to be fun ... They said....

3 thick sleeping mats and duck tape and a milar blanket might save someone ass from dying from exposure.
3 lmats make a huge roll though.
I saw a pilgrim use this simple idea travelling el camino through the pirenees.
