Having spent 25+ years in transport before walking away from the industry, I grok exactly where you're coming from.
I had a crew of a dozen or 15 or so ghetto rats try to hijack my commercial vehicle in East Syracuse just 2 blocks off Erie Boulevard a decade ago as I pulled up to a four way stop sign. Gang scum were climbing all over the flatbed and trying to figure out how to release the chains and binds to get at my load of steel, while one bravo mike charlie thought it would be good to climb into the cab of a rolling truck and threaten my life. He got out right quick when I showed him what was in my hand (and it wasn't the shifter knob, as I was still in gear and rolling). The rest of the lice jumped ship when I popped the clutch and made that flatbed buck like a bronco and roared right through that four way stop. The eye popping consternation of the civilians with their jaws dropped in disbelief as the ticks flopped to the pavement made me smile as I shifted out of low gear.
