My bad experience with ?

During the course of my Remington 870 shooting history spanning about 36 years nd including about 20 years as a certified instructor (yes using Remington 870s almost exclusively in that training) I have seen many Remington 870s (Express or better models) jam. I would say that at least 95% or more of the jams that I have seen were caused by shooter error attributed to the user not racking the slide properly.

That's true, used them at night for Fox, Holding light in left hand. The Moss 500 will short stroke WAY BETTER with no jams. And the open is bigger to eject shells, not oval shaped small like Rem, And two ejector clips, ya call them?

Diamondback Db380,wanted to love it but it was just not reliable plus seeing all of the reports of broken MIM parts in them was enough to trade it off.

For anyone who doesn't remember from the first report... I had a bunch of trouble with my first Remington R1 1911. Feed issues. Every third or fourth round wouldn't feed properly. After talking to you fine folks, I decided it wasn't because I was limp-wristing. Sent it back to Remington, they polished the feed ramp and sent it back. Still had the same issues. Grrrr. To Remington's credit, they replaced the gun after I sent it back the second time, but it makes me think they didn't really look at it the first time. I haven't had any problems since, but I still don't fully trust it yet. It's the last of my three handguns I pick when I want to do some shooting, so I decided to bring it to NJ and stick it in a little safe. (PX-4 is my favorite handgun, but with it's standard cap mags, it stays in PA.)

The Savage (Model 11) is headed to the gunsmith later this week. Twice now, a hard bump has caused the damn thing to fire. Scary. (And, of course, I couldn't stop myself from pointing out to my significant other that this is why you always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. We've argued about that one on two separate occasions now, but that's a topic for another thread.) It might have something to do with the Accu-Trigger, but I'll let you know once I get it back. Not sending it back to Savage because I want it in hand before deer hunt.

Any issues with the PX4? Just curious. Never heard anything bad about that one.

That's an interesting comparison between 870 and 500 I have not heard. Short stroking seems to be a common error, maybe the 870 would be a better learner SG so the shooter learns to use better forend grip and focuses on making a full slide with the action?

Nope. I've put nearly 1,000 rounds through it at this point and not had a single problem. Love that thing.

I have heard of a couple of unicorns that run. Sig got their numbers wrong. It should be a couple that dont run but most do. The mosquito has the opposite numbers. Most wont run.

I also remember the 870's could not be unloaded from bottom, Had to rack them out, making for much annoying unnecessary noise.

You said the shells had to be racked out of an 870 - well yes the one in the chamber does have to be racked out and that single racking also removes one from the mag tube that can then be easily removed by tilting the gun so the ejection port faces down. The others are then removed by manipulation of the shell stops; no further racking required.

That's strange Glenn, None of mine could be unloaded like that. Was it different on older ones? Mine were about 1989, so was my friends, we bought them all same year.

That's not strange, that is the normal way to unload an 870. I got my current 870 Express back in the late eighties, it can be unloaded just as shown in the video. I have two other newer ones that unload the same way. I also had an 870 Wingmaster from the early eighties that was unloaded the same way.

I think I see. On a Moss 500 fully loaded, you can flip gun over depress shell latch and unload each shell. I think if you try to have the 870 fully load, turn it over and depress latch you can't remove all the shells leaving only the one in chamber? pretty sure?
