My Bastard AR

For the last couple of years, I've been accumulating parts with no clear direction in mind, other than trying to get decent quality parts on the cheap.

Here she is in all her trashy glory - a mishmash of parts from a bunch of different places all crammed into a rifle. I'm taking it out tomorrow to seee if it goes bang, then I'll find a scope. Weeeeee!

It looks as good as a NY AR can look at this point.. I'd go for a mini 14 if good looks are important, though not everyone like the mini...idk, be proud of your rifle!

Don't get me wrong - I'm very happy with the rifle.

With pieces from 6 or 7 manufacturers in there, I was having some doubts about if they would all play nice together. So far, it functions fine.

Update...

I went with the Vortex Crossfire II 1x4. Its super clear on the lower end of the magnification, but at the high end (high end, its only 4x!) things get a lot blurrier than I'd like. Ive got a Barska 1.5x4.5 thats less blurry.

Regardless, its a shooter! This rifle turned out nicer than I thought it would. I think I got lucky with it, considering its such a mash-up. Down below is a 3 shot group at 100 yards with my handloads.

Also OP should stencil "The Bastard" (Basterd?) on the dust cover.

My rifle is pretty sexy though, I know I'm not the only one that thinks so. Functions sexy too.

I'd rather have it than not have it. I'm curious about that Vortex optic though. I have a strike fire and have loved it. But I've also been looking for something in 1x that has variable magnification.

The Vortex seems ok, but I had higher hopes. The outside edge of the field of view is kind of fuzzy at 4x. The center of the field of view is nice and clear though. 1x is fantastic and is nice and bright.

The red dot is nice, but not very bright. I bought the scope used, so a fresh battery might help the brightness.
