My first day concealed carrying

Big day I guess! I was in uniform coming back from drill, got dismissed late and was late to my FFL appointment (almost 2hrs). Guy was really cool about it because I called and told him the situation. He stayed open for me and we shot the shit for close to an hour. Anyways, I threw on my holster and did an appendix carry, stopped by wegmans to grab milk, bread and over prices Valentine’s Day flowers and chocolates and called it a night. Didn’t feel too heavy but even with my OCP coat on it made me look fat and it felt noticeable. I can’t imagine what it looks like when I’m in civilian clothes. It sucks being skinny lol

Even if you "Print" a bit, people have no clue what they are seeing. These concerns will go away sooner than you think. Looks fine.

You are seeing yourself standing upright, as you are walking around, much of the print disappears.

People new to carrying are hyper sensitive about being spotted. You'll learn people are clueless absorbed in their phones. Honestly you're probably most likely to be spotted by a kid they are more alert than most adults.

Try to mess around with positioning your holster. I can't tell from your pics but it might be too far left try shifting an inch or 2 right and it might direct the grip more inward towards your hip along your body. Every inch matters. When I carry appendix I position the holster clip on the right side of my fly.

Sometimes I carry about the 2oclock position I can find kinda a nook around my hip bone that works well with the holster.

Just experiment with different carry positions. You'll find a method you are comfortable and confident with.

And as @Edwardteach72 said get some JHP ammo when you get the chance.

A good holster will make a world of difference. Plus some time figuring things out.

The wedge really does make a world of difference carrying appendix. Better than any claw. You can see it in the picture from your side profile where you're lifting your BDU blouse that the grip and rear portion of the pistol are tipping forward. Same thing would happen to me.

It's $15 for a pack of 4 in all their different sizes. Slap the medium on and if you need more or less, pull it off and try another. I went with the wide for comfort, but check the dimensions listed on the page against your holster to make sure you have enough flat real-estate on your holster that a wide would fit. Or avoid that hassle and order a standard width.

But yea, a good belt is also a huge help. I think there's currently an active thread on gunbelts with a bunch of recs.

You belt buckle is printing a lot. Turn your belt so the buckle is at about the 9-10 o'clock position.

I've had more people ask about the end of the flashlight holster on my belt peeking out from my coat while being completely oblivious to the LC9 bulge just 4 inches away on my hip.

Being self-conscious about it is actually worse, as you may draw attention to it with your body language.

Just relax and act normal.

Move it to the 2:30-3:00 position, just in front of your hip bone. I carry A full 1911 or DW357, but I'm 6' 230lbs with some, as my G daughter will say fat belly, girth for tactical concealment.

I dont get putting bulky sights on a gun you want to carry concealed.If you ever have to use it in a situation you aint gonna have time to use any sights.

@Edwardteach72 am I wrong that this holster is not even attached to his belt? That is why I also suggested he wear his belt turned around, I know he is left-handed and wears the belt that way but he shoots right-handed. That would allow the buckle to move over to the loop on his left side instead of being in the way on his right side.

Yes it is attached.. his holster uses a single clip (looks like it's a Fomi. Which if it is then I have another suggestion for him)

Ok but I still think it would work better if he turned the belt around, it would be more secure .
