Thanks!Looks like 33⅓" at the barrel, 33⅔" at the light! Looks like I'll have some 3's in my next Powerball ticket!

Or did you mean like this, were I replace the buffer tube with wood, and keep the rubber SB Tactical S.O.B brace?

Gets my vote.
Needs a bayonet, though.
The tac 14 already has the cross bolt. If you don’t mind Remington...Ok question. (Shotties are not my forte if you will) so maverick 88s (which I know are essentially 500s) have a pistol grip with crossbolt safety that can be put onto a 500/590? If so (I'm guessing it can obviously) that would 100% make me interested in the shockwave again.
Secondly are you going to be able to keep the wood grip?

That grip came out fantastic.Yupper. I'm in love with the wood, and the way it turned out. The short LOP/soft rubber pistol brace is surprisingly comfortable on my shoulder, too, (when I CAN shoulder it, that is!)
That grip came out fantastic.
They are all over the place here. Can also take the stream light racker. The 20 ga will also take a brace. I think I’m getting one in 20I know the tac14 does, which is why I contemplate one of those over the shockwave, downside is 1) finding a tac14, 2) 1 less round

And this is the kind of wear I'm talking about. Not finding fault, just pointing it out. These bright spots showed up on a well-oiled gun after 50 rounds, and a few trial racking of the slide.
Rather than fight this wear, I'm going with it by distressing the entire gun to sort of camouflage it. A side effect of this is that I won't have to baby it like I do with brand new guns.

In my experiences, that kind of wear is totally normal on the Mossberg's...whether its due to slight variances in tolerances or its just by design, I see plenty of wear spots on the moving parts of my 590. I've always thought this about Mossberg shotguns (at least the pump-actions): they're definitely not the most refined shotguns out there, but they work and they're affordable (relatively speaking). And quite honestly, for how much I abuse my mossberg shotguns (hunting and target shooting), I'm totally fine with that...the more expensive you go with your firearm, the less likely you are to really enjoy it out of fear of "ruining" it.
For the original topic: what is the legality of switching out the stock handle/grip and replacing it with a brace and pistol grip? I thought the OEM's were able to bypass the short-barrel regulations by going with a unique grip. Not intending to snoop or lecture on the law (which I'm not familiar with in this scenario); rather just interest in learning how much we can modify these shockwave shotguns.
Nice look. I'm just catching up and would suggest using gold spray paint to rattle-can the trigger if that's something you are interested in
You should add a push button safety also
