They will still supply natural gas. In NYS they are saying they will still supply gas for back up generators. Also in NYS they aren’t going to cut off gas but they will make you do an electric system on replacement because gas will be banned from sale. Too bad I’m just driving to PA to buy a gas furnace and screw you NYS. I will not comply.

I don’t think anyone in my part of central ny heats with anything other than either natural gas , propane, or heating oil, all ‘ fossil fuels’ because electric heating is cost prohibitive.

The CA version has just removed all indoor gas plumbing from the building code.

The only way to not comply is to refuse to comply with all the building code enforcement means.

I've said for a long time that building code was tyranny, and now we're seeing that writ large.

But way too many people have fallen for the "without the government conducting unreasonable searches during construction, all our homes will be death traps" line. So your neighbors will snitch on you during the remodel like Anne Frank's did.

It will also force people who aren't capable to attempt those remodels themselves, when they would otherwise have hired a professional. That will *create* the incidents that will be used to justify further restrictions.

Yes, they know they can't force everyone to replace every furnace, hot water heater, and stove all at once.

But, the one you have today won't last forever, and they're counting on that.

If you get do gas hooked up for your backup generation, that is all the gas you'll get. You won't get a supply sufficient to run anything else.
