need some thoughts on pistol frames

ok I'm contemplating a new pistol. up front I'm a 1911 guy served in the army from 1965 til 1970 so that's what I carried. still love the damn things then when the military broke my hart and went to the M9 with an aluminum frame I bought 1 being prepared to hate it fell in love with it and still own 3 now here we go again and it's Sig's turn with the M17 bought 1 a P320/M17 my first striker fired pistol took some getting used to but I can shoot it. I like all steel guns so now while I've been saving for a Colt combat commander in 9mm Beretta comes out with the 92X all steel and a bunch of other upgrades and Sig comes out with a tungsten infused polymer frame which I'm sure I don't fully understand . can't afford all 3 at 1 time so help and old guy out with some input

Well let’s start here. Do you like the no safety? And what will you use the gun for?
Seems you like or at least tolerate the Sig striker platform. Also what do you like about the steel framed guns 1991’s? The weight and trigger pull?

The sig frame is designed for competition (so is the 92X, where is now also the 92x compact which is not competition focused) and the added Tungsten is to increase the weight if the the Sig to try and keep up with the all metal guns like STI 2011s or CZ guns

I like all steel guns too, that being said the sig frame intrigues me and after I am done building a boat load of 1911s I will build a few Sigs. There is a M17 x5 (I think it is) 80% frame complete build kit for a grand. I will probably look into that one and a few others.

My two competition guns 40 S&W and 45 ACP weigh in at 45.8 and 45.0 ounces respectively unloaded without magazines. The heavy stainless steel frame helps tame the 40 a lot.

If it's the weight of an all steel frame that you like that is what SIG is trying to replicate with their new tungsten polymer frame. I'm not sure how it works either but if I had to guess they mixed in sintered tungsten powder in with the polymer. Who knows what effect this could have on the mechanical properties of the polymer aside from making it heavier. Not sure I trust SIG anymore with any bright new ideas.
The 92X, as I understand, is a Single Action with a 1911 style safety and the Vertec style grip is likewise supposed mimic the feel of a 1911. Since you are a fan of the 1911 and the 92 I think you would really like the 92X.
