New "AR-180" UPPER from Brownells

I called back and explained what I wanted to do and she is checking. A side charger will not work without drilling and tapping their proprietary bolt carrier, something I won't do, but a standard left hand upper should work, she is double checking that.

I called Fightlite, the bolt is a standard AR bolt that fits their bolt carrier assembly, however the lady I talked with says it is not compatible with a left hand upper. I think I will call back and explain that I would be putting a left hand bolt on it. Maybe she misunderstood.

Okay. Well with the BRN 180 upper it's all it's own self contained proprietary thing. If you put it on the SCR lower you wouldn't be using any of the SCR bolt/carrier components.

It appears the BRN 180 has its own internal recoil system. If you could fabricate a 2x4 into a stock that would hold the 180, a magazine, and trigger group, it would function on it as well.

I thought that video would clear up any confusion people may have regarding the differences between the AR15 and AR180 actions. The AR180 being pretty obscure nowadays.

I am curious to know if , regarding your new BRN-180 upper, if the bolt release of a standard AR15 lower has any interaction with the bolt of the BRN 180. Will the release lock the bolt open on an empty magazine? Will pushing the release close the bolt home when open?

So based on the above In think I would mate this to an Aero Precison ambi lower and using that folding stock adapter I mentioned before I would attach an Ace Skeleton stock:

Mostly because I think it looks cool and fits the theme of the upper.

Any definitive answer on if this will fit on a SCR lower? I'd love to be able to mess around with all different types of stocks for my SCR lower. The AR-180 would definitely make it easier not being bound to using the Remington 1100 style recoil system.
