New deer gun?

So I really want a new deer gun, currently using a Swiss K-31.

Well I found out my county has no problems adding AR-15 pistols to permits, and I found a complete PSA pistol lower for $130 (or for $170 a complete aero)

So I'm thinking I have a complete 300blk upper with 16" barrel that would work in the mean time but maybe turning that into a 9" ar pistol upper for a deer gun (fixed mag of course)

And that's what I was thinking, and then thought well could actually make a decent light easy to carry gun.

But I am now leaning towards 9.5in or 10.5in barrel. I really do want to keep it as small as I can but still be as ethical as possible out to say 100-125yards

Yeah and a Winchester Model 70 would be much better for deer hunting than say a Thompson Contender

Well I learned a couple things today.. I didnt think we could have a pistol like that in NYS and never would have guest something like that would be so shootable. I checked out a few guys on youtube shooting them and they were much more accurate than what I would have figured. At typical deer hunting distances that could be an interesting option.

A 7 inch 556 is ballistically useless, and only good for making the neighbors go deaf. Ask me how I know.

The OP was talking about a 300 BO deal. I only linked that as to be sure I understood the "type" of pistol in the discussion, not a recommendation. I believe the 300 BO performs well in a short barrel.

Fixed magazine and safe act goes out the window lol. Add something like the SB tactical sb3a or what ever pistol brace, even better.

Honestly AR pistols fill an awesome role, but sadly here in NY we have to have a fixed magazine no way around it, this regulates it to nothing more than a range toy OR could be a decent hunting gun. Especially in shotgun/handgun only areas

I know our laws are restricting, but 10 round of rifle ammo is a good start!! One of the port re-loaders I saw looked pretty easy.

Being that it is a pistol can it be loaded in a vehicle?

I'm guessing you saw either the mean arms loader or the bear loader both look like decent options for us here, but at 49.99 and 39.99 respectively it still kinda sucks.

And yes it's a pistol so g2g

If you were to use the Tier 5 Bolt Interrupter, it would solve that problem. Finding an FFL to list it as manually operated would be a challenge though.

If that's what you really want, travel to an FFL that will on your day off. Make a thread inquiring on who used what FFL to get it done.

Working 7 days a week, have been since February. Along with chemung wont do purchasing tickets and are only open Tuesday to Thursday

That sucks. You got me wound up, I just bought an upper and ordered a lower this morning. Doing a 10.5" 5.56 for cheaper plinking.

In case you ever get a day off and want to drive north, one of my LGS would definitely do the transfer (Schenectady County). They even have the below lowers in AND have a built AR pistol in the front case for sale, supposedly already sold two. This lower is specifically made for the Capital Gun Group and even reads "NY Compliant fixed 10 round magazine" on the other side. I would think the side access would make clearing malfunctions much easier...
