Ok, so in spite of the tough times ... I decided to splurge a little in myself. A complete want, rather than need of course. But I've had my eye on these for a while. So in August, I was able to get "IN" when the books opened for a new batch to be made. I was lucky, tried a few times before, but the batches usually sell out very very quickly. You basically get on a mail list, they let you know when it's happening, you pretty much have to have all your options etc., ready to basically click to BUY button ASAP to have a chance... Yeah, just that quick!
Definitely an extravagance!
G&G Hawk Deadlock
Now with it in hand, all I'll say is OMG, what a work of art! This family has patented a design that completely, and I mean completely, eliminates any blade play while opened. Zilch, none! Feels like a full tang fixed blade, is simply amazing! I have full confidence that this would perform as designed should the need ever arise. The blade is scalpel sharp, awesome! I will disassemble and coat all metal surfaces, especially internal with Ex-Ox and then reassemble. Also, this is not something that's going to sit in the safe or on a shelf, it's going to be in my pocket always. I think my Jim Burker Hitman (TAD Custom) is going to get jealous due to neglect, lol... The only critique I could musta would be the lack of some customization, ie, blade steel, and maybe some ornamental tweaks. But this is a keeper.
Anyways, just thought I'd share!
