The NH police took over the old Gander Mountain building... I heard some rumors that NH didn't want a large sporting goods store selling guns in their territory. Again -- rumors.

It was odd too, because they had some kind of "fire" in the building years back, but it didn't do hardly any damage (smell/smoke). I always thought that was ironic as well. They were closed for almost a year too. When they reopened, the store was not even close to what it was like prior inventory-wise.

That town is uppity-up too... so it doesn't surprise me one bit. My family told me that they just don't like how that town is running things.

Oh, yeah, and supposedly taxes are like insane.

I'm not 100% sure but I think I met and had several drinks with the police chief last summer. Nice guy,,, but he did not personally carry while off duty and I'd say he wasn't a supporter of it either.

He has every right not to carry off duty. I will not persecute him. I expect the same courtesy though for wanting to carry.

I wasn't either at the time, we were both at a bar to celebrate something. If I know it's a day or night of drinking my guns stay home or in the truck.

Makes sense. I was merely pointing my comment towards you saying he wasn't a supporter of someone carrying unless I misunderstood your comment.

If it's worth anything, the responding police treated the good samaritan like the hero he is.

I bought my first pistol (Beretta PX4 Storm) at the New Hartford Gander - they had it transferred free of charge from their Syracuse store. Sure price was a little higher but I had to buy something "asap" to put on my new (at the time) permit.

Don't think the fire had anything to do with them leaving, just an expensive location and sales probably weren't enough to cover. Similar to all of the places leaving Destiny.
