Good should do the same here in NY ! I’m sooooo sick of seeing my wife’s cousin posting on FB her pew pew Sunday gunday pics of her shooting her husbands ARs with standard mags . Her husband is a deputy so it’s ok that she plays with what us little people can’t ! PEW PEW

If they are standard capacity I would assume they would be department property? Or are LEOs exempt from personal ownership of standard capacity mags? If department property it shouldn't be legal for her to use them.
Not that I care though, if I want to use standard cap mags I will legal or not. Just wouldn't be posting anywhere about it.

I looked into it earlier this year and have decided it’s not worth it. I wanted a silencer (still do), but I don’t want my department knowing what I have beyond my handguns. We get the wrong commissioner, he pulls all the letters and demands we turn them in. No recourse because you can’t just move them to another state.

Yup. I wanted to look into SBR’s and suppressors but I’m in the same mindset as you. Not worth it.

Just do AR pistols, they have some nice braces (KAK industries) and you don't have to tell the ATF when you cross state lines. Supressors are another thing though.

It’s an actual loophole. I don’t think it was done intentionally. That’s how it has been explained to me by multiple people in the know.

Also, it doesn’t extend into retirement. I’ve yet to hear a story about what happened to an officer who had something while active but then retired. The only people I know who’ve availed themselves of the oversight are still active.

Easy fix, get a class III dealers FFL and you are good to go.

Once it's time to retire my ass is for sure out of NY, tax free state
