Was already looking into one of these to shoot steel with.

Well the new improved ones look even better for that. With the reversible mag release and charging handle are nice to see

Now they just need a quick release sling point on the stock instead of the Fudd sling point that they like using.

Looks like it's just the 9mm versions that will have the free floated handguard. Bummer. Was hoping the 40s&w would also have that option but from the article it looks like the 40 will be standard confirguration.

My bad just rechecked there site only 9mm has new hand grip.

I guess the only reason I'd want one in 40s&w is because I have a Glock 23. Not to derail the thread with a beat up topic but am I gaining much with the 40 over the 9mm?

Not really unless you go light for caliber. Check out the fps increase of both the 9mm and .40 out of 16 inch barrels.

BBTI - Ballistics by the Inch :: Calibers/Cartridges

If your everyday carry is a .40, then it would probably make sense to get a .40 assuming it takes the same magazines as your primary carry.

Well the G23 can be converted to 9mm. The 40s&w mags will feed 9mm as well...Considering that the G23 can do both calibers, which is the best to go with for a companion carbine?

So Ruger, sell us .40 barrels and bolts for those of us with a 9mm already...


Wait, would there be head spacing issues.

Honestly I wouldnt be surprised if they are the same receivers just different bolts and barrels (not sure how different rifles are vs handguns)

And They released the 9mm first to test the waters.

Seems more economical to build one reciever and then use the multi magwell design mixed with barrels than to retool and set up for .40sw receivers along with the 9mm ones
