Meke, I think you should undertake a project perfecting the .300 Blackout.

IMO with the 7.62x39 (hybrid 308 bore chamber) this makes a lot more sense.
The 7.62x39 will launch a 110gr to 2,600fps. 250fps faster than the blackout.
Very simple. No need to do anything special. Simply get one and reload.

Another very nice one is the 7mmx39 based on the 7.62x39. This is even better
and will put that speed in a 120gr SST or solid.

The 358 Winchester is a greatly under appreciated round. I've been very happy with mine. I previously had a 35 Whelen in an 1895 Browning. Had a 30-06 rebored. Too much gun for the whitetail hunting that I do. I'd sit in my tree stand with the rifle on my lap and let the deer pass by because I felt it was so much overkill...lol.

My New Year build is a 450 Bushmaster in an AR15. I'm working on some recoil mitigation right now. I've only put 5 rounds through it but it was tons of fun.

The 35 winchester is fine with mild 200 grains. the whelen too. But you are right if pumped to the full potential might chop the deer in two halves w/o much meat left to eat. At the average ranges these rounds seem to be even more lethal than 30 or 338 caliber magnums. It is my belief that a good reason for this is, like with other .375 calibers, the additional frontal section w/o excessive sectional density provide massive wounding but with the perfect amount of penetration even for the largest game, and therefore more wounding and faster energy transfer.
The wounding and shock potential of any 358 or 375 is unquestionable based on their track record.
With bullets 225gr bonded and solid and 250gr pretty stout bullets there is no need for more IMO even for the largest game.
Simple, economic, reliable and very lethal.

Buffalo bore sends 225gr bullets at 2700+ fps so that is brutal although I personally think the 225gr Accubond or partition are better bullets
for anything including the largest Moose bulls and Grizzlies. So imagine a deer, it might destroy it. That is why one has to load milder loads for this.

I was loading the old 225 Nosler Ballistic tip at around 2600 fps. It was an easy inch and a half at 100 yds with peep sights. My 358 is a BLR that I have scoped (which my aging eyes appreciate). I use a 200 grain interlock at 2450 fps. It's a great whitetail and black bear round ( I've taken both with it).
