This is what the Cusumano v. Krumpter et al case is about. The unlimited authority to grant, deny, limit, suspend, revoke a pistol license in unconstitutional. You can't have a government official granting or denying on an ad hoc basis what is suppose to be an individual, fundamental, enumerated constitutional right.
Of course after dicking around with it for over a year, the licensing office in Nassau County suddenly renewed the permit and returned the pistols and permit right after we filed suit.
Our Motion for Summary Judgment has been filed. Before Judge Wexler, US District Court, Eastern Dist of NY. We will see what happens.

You know there are ways to carry without printing. A pocket pistol in a pocket holster doesn't print at all.
If pulled over, all you are going to do is get a ticket just like everyone else. They aren't going to pull you out of the vehicle just because you have a gun permit and search your car unless you've been suspected of committing another crime.
I've been pulled over 4 times since getting my license and never once had they asked if I'm carrying. If asked, I'd just say no unless I was asked to step out of the vehicle. At that point, you have bigger problems because you are now suspected of committing another crime.
It just doesn't happen like Darth said. And you can always be on your way to a gun shop to look at trading it in or going to a range or coming from a range or any number of things. Hell, you may very well be on your way to my house because I'm interested in buying it.
If you are that paranoid, set up a situation like that with someone else.
I'm not telling you to do anything. Just merely talking about the paranoia.

I admit, the paranoia is something I need to get over. I have a pocket pistol and holster but it's not a handgun I am proficient with. I feel much more capable with my G23 which is obviously bigger.

The sad truth in NY is that your permit, whether Unrestricted or not CAN BE suspended or even revoked at the mere whim of a judge, even when you haven't committed any crime whatsoever. And under NY(UN)SAFE, if it is revoked, you lose the right to own and possess ANY firearm in NY.
I say this, because a few years ago, my Unrestricted permit was suspended when my local Chief of Police wrote a letter demanding that my permit be revoked because "he didn't like my attitude", because I had the nerve to use profanity to order a man who had previously threatened my life to keep off my property (where I was standing at the time), and away from me. And, I note, - I did not display or even mention the gun I had on me at the time either.
I think the fear that many have (especially those with so called "Restricted" permits), is that we are all at risk of losing them anytime a judge feels like it. May issue is the fucking problem at hand, and we need to bring the whole scheme down.
