It used to be that I grabbed my gun and put it on my hip only when I left the house.
Now, it's part of my routine every morning when I get dressed. When I walk down the stairs, even before I've had my coffee, it's on my hip. When I'm kicked back in the recliner after work, sitting at the dinner table, watching TV, or walking out to the mailbox or my car, it's on my hip. It's not at the point where I have the "something doesn't feel right" moment when I don't have it - even at home.
Too many people really don't understand the implications of the whole package of "reforms" (both bail and discovery).
They’ve done a good job of framing the discussion around the bail reform portion only. Most people have no clue what I am talking about when I bring up the other - far worse - aspects of this law.
My department literally put out a video that says, “we can no longer ensure the safety and anonymity of victims and witnesses” and then goes on to explain how the department plans to handle situations where threats and intimidation result from the mandatory sharing of their addresses and all contact info.
This is truly sick shit.
