That blows, I really like their stuff. For the price, it has really good value. I know some don't buy scopes this "cheap" but they're not bad. Sure, they're not Leupold, but I'd put them over Bushnell. Primary has better reticles though.

I'm gonna go and try to find one for my AR. Been wanting a smaller 1-6 or something. There should be decent deals.

I have a Buckmasters II on my Mini 14. It's been a solid performer. I might just have to see if I can find a few more to put away.

Nikon are good scopes. I use them when I need a cheaper scope. I thought I read a month or so ago that they discontinued their lifetime warranty.

Edit: I did a quick search, they discontinued their no fault warranty. So if u damage the scope they will no longer fix it

Generally, a damn good scope for the money and helped keep prices down across the board. Every one I have has provided good service and never a problem.

Amazon is showing some of the prices cut too.

That being said, I am looking for a "cheap" AR scope. I don't want a 3-9x like I have now, and right now, all I am seeing from Nikon is a 1-4x20 and a 2-7 that looks like it's for 300blk. Their Blackforce 1000 scope is a bit more than I want to spend, though I might watch it to see if the price comes down at all more than it has.

In the meantime, I'll look at Bushnell and Primary

Too bad. I think Nikon nails the affordable without being crap price point. I have three of them with no complaints at all; they have been my go-to.

I'm not surprised, though, and I don't think it's because the market is "crowded". People probably get triggered going to nikon and seeing that they make killing implements just a few clicks away from cameras.

hey Leupolds in the nikon price range are not what i consider a Leupold! under $400 i would take a nikon Every time!

Always been more of a Leupold fan but the Nikons I have area really nice too. It's a shame they're not making them anymore. Though, I agree, it seems there are way more scope manufacturers out there than can reasonably expect to make a profit in the market.

Nightforce all day, everyday if money wasn’t a issue. Their monarch 7 comes close to nightforce shv scope line up price wise

I couldn't even afford to buy a Nikon :D
Was looking last year, figured they make good cameras so their scopes cant be half bad.
Maybe Canon will jump in the mix? Lol...kidding.

I was exclusively buying Nikon for several years. The ( original) buckmaster with BDC in 4 - 12 X was very good value for the money and I bought several. Last time I went to get one Nikon had removed features and lowered price to Buckmaster II, or I had to pay twice as much for their higher line. Haven’t bought one since. At that point I may just as well have gone Leupold. I wound up going Vortex. Have three vortex now, all very nice. The first one I bought is on a long range 308 rifle (600-800 yard stuff). I am approaching 1000 rounds through it and it’s still perfect. It’s been drenched a few times with no issues.

I used to buy the Japanese weaver's a lot. Had a little bit better glass than the Nikons.

Burris is about the same price point now. I have both brands. The burris gets to be on a center fire. The nikon is just on a .22.

They are basically the bare minimum. I generally reach for Japanese and American first. They are probably feeling pressure from cheap Chinese scopes from bushnell and vortex.

Weaver optics is dead. They were bought by bushnell and bushnell stopped production of the weaver optics. They r still honoring weavers warranty but if u need a replacement, you are going to get a bushnell in the same price range.

Right, but then you at least get something...


My Japanese Weavers track somewhat correctly however...unlike even my vx3.

My vx3 I believe is f’ed up. Haven’t had a chance to test other scopes on the rifle. That rifle was a tack driver. I generally don’t even consider leupold stuff.

My buddy has a weaver tactical model, I forget what it is. He hasn’t had any issues with his.

I have 5 Japanese weavers. The grand slam mil dots track.

My 2 swfa scopes are great.

My vx2... it's more like 1/2 moa adjustments. Same as the vx3i. They stay zeroed, but getting then there is hard. My vx freedom seems better.

My burris e1 doesn't track so much, but it does adjust reasonably.

Anything else besides my aim point has been relegated to rimfires.

I’m getting horizontal strings with my rifle. I thought it was my rifle so I had it bedded. Still doing it. I don’t want to blame leupold till I try another scope on it. Idk what else it could be but the scope.

I have 1 Nikon scope, on my crossbow. The Nikon BoltXR. Decent enough scope, all I'll ever need since crossbow hunting is not my fave.

The rest, 8 total, are Leupold's. Never had a problem with any of mine, but stuff happens. If it did, that's when the full lifetime warranty comes in handy.

Just found this out, and this is a major bummer to me. All my rifles have Nikon glass on them, and I never had a problems with any of them.
