Three white officers stopping a black, law-abiding, lawfully armed and licensed, armored car security guard coming home from work is extremely dubious. His subsequent arrest was unjustifiable.

While it is always important to know, understand and follow the laws of the State in which you are carrying, it is more important for the Police to understand and know the laws.

From the article and the article alone, seems like the Police may be wrong in this arrest.

If found that they were incorrect, I hope, at the least, this guard receives an apology for the error.

If I read the article with the location removed, I would have guessed somewhere in NJ easily. As bad as our laws are, the general "atmosphere" in NY is not anti-gun, just our politicians. New Jersey is anti-gun, period. My cousin's range leases land to the town cops and he's told me before that they still give them crap but because taxes are so high they need the PD's money to keep the range going. Clearly these guys went too far unless there is something big we are not being told in that article.

When NJ changed its laws recently, I dropped my carry capacity from 12 to 10 because I am there so often. I don't trust them not to arrest me for being over 10 and I don't trust myself or my daily routine to alternate it when I find myself heading over there. I'm exempt from their hollow point laws at least.

Unfortunately an apology doesn’t cut it, because of this arrest this guy will lose his state license for armored car, probably lose his NJ pistol permit and most likely loose his job, all over tinted windows. I hope he sue’s the shit out of NJ and never has to worry about a paycheck ever again, an apology doesn’t make up for destroying someone’s life and career. I work as an armored car atm tech, couple months back I was asked if I would like to work in Jersey for a few weeks and told the boss absolutely not.

Twyne seems to have been following the law, produced all the right paperwork. Bullets he carried are not hollow points under the definition. NJ is one of a handful of states that require you to disclose the fact you are in possession of a handgun. In NYS you don’t have to tell the police you are in possession unless specifically asked.

Judge Cawley told me that if am stopped in Broome county I have to notify officer I am carrying. When asked about rest of state he stated his jurisdiction is only Broome county.

You know that if/when they were in Jersey they all had hollow point ammo and standard capacity magazines. They are private security and not federal law enforcement like Secret Service would be. As a local cop what's to stop me from questioning one of the guys in the detail due to reasonable suspicion and checking for a non-compliant weapon or magazine, or even an unlawful possession? More rules for thee but not for me?

As long as they maintain their qualification, they can carry on their credentials.

Shitheads private security are all retired police officers, he said as much on tv as well, being retired police as long as they keep up with qualification requirements they retain their exemption under HR218
