When I switched over from the paper to the plastic license I was on line at the clerk's window behind a guy who had 93 handguns on his license. He told me he started collecting when he was young and many of his handguns had greatly increased in value. Had all of them earmarked for transfer to children and grandchildren when his time came.

I made a rule for myself when I began to buy personal guns.......buying won't stop until I have 4 guns for every inch of length of my donger. I had to stop at 48 to earn more money to pay for the rest.

I must be close to 40 handguns and 40 - 22lr rifles. With the other 20 or so other long guns that a little more then the 17 average. Oh well so be it.
Why do I need that many, because I can and I generally buy right and when I sell any of them I make money on them. The ones I keep in my collection are my kids inheritance when I cash in my chips.
Why invest in a savings account where you only gain 1%, Screw that! I want to hake a 20% or more profit and shoot the hell out of my tools in my collection.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the terms collector, collection, or collecting, mean the gathering of multiples of examples, to which the more the merrier?

I'll go ahead and say it. There are many hoarders here. It's a sickness. They accumulate and accumulate and accumulate and fool themselves into thinking that collecting that many guns is cool in other people's eyes.
I see guns as tools. I don't have that many just like I don't have many hammers. I may have a regular hammer, a brass hammer, a ballpene, and a rubber mallet. They all serve purposes. If one gun with the latest dohickey in x caliber gets bought, I sell the older model. What use would I need to have a gen 3, 4, and 5 when I could just have the 5?
If I need to pass an inheritance, it'll be money rather than burdening kids with having to sell 400 or so guns. They'll probably get ripped off by one gunshop anyway just to try and get rid of them.
Just like my tool box and closet, I do spring cleaning. If I don't wear a shirt for years and I bought another one, the old one gets tossed. I do the same with guns.

And therein lies the beauty of a free society. You can have the number of guns you want, and others can as well. Collecting guns is not a sickness, any more than collecting stamps, or classic cars, or whatever else interests you is. Neither you nor I get to be the judge of how much of something someone else gets to own.

The 2A and US Constitution were ratified over 200 years ago. There has not been a success invasion of the US since. So there folks, the 2A works. No need to change it. Leave it the hell alone.
Only buy guns that look alike, then you will not have any issues.
