No Obama-care fix, GOP will lose seats

Right now, the GOP is in a very bad position.
1) Pass this obnoxious P.O.S. replacement legislation and many of the Democrats that voted for Trump will vote Dem in the upcoming mid-term, thus ending the GOP super-majority.
2) Don't pass this, and many of the Republicans that voted for Trump might very well vote against the GOP in retaliation.

Their only saving option is if they come up with a valid plan that would actually maintain health care for everyone while lowering costs (and getting rid of that ridiculous 'fee' if you cannot afford health care).

Obamacare was a poison pill.

It was designed to explode so that the dems could replace it with a single payer system. Getting rid of it is like defusing a bomb.

Getting congress to get rid of it is like talking 500 baboons through defusing bomb over the phone, while 200 just want to see it explode.

Maybe you ought to move to Norway and Sweden and get your "free" healthcare, since socialized medicine is so great.

Prior to the passage of Obamacare, there were already socialized medicine policies in place for the segments of the population that couldn't afford some or all of their healthcare, in the form of Medicaid (for the poor and handicapped) and Medicare (for the elderly poor and retired folks who needed "partial" help).

However, just like socialized retirement (so-called Social Security, which is not retirement security at all), Medicaid and Medicare have been bankrupting the rest of the nation since they were implemented.

Even if we eliminated every single bit of waste and graft in government, including whatever you want to call "waste" (like aircraft carriers, when national security is IN FACT a power rightly retained by government!), Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and the entire "welfare" scheme that has been put in place and enforced upon the States and the People would still... wait for it... bankrupt the people who actually pay the bills.

The vast amount of deficit spending that has been undertaken in this country since the New Deal (FDR) and the Great Society (LBJ) has accumulated because of the ever increasing payouts needed to take care of those who cannot (read DO NOT) take care of themselves. To the tune now of 20 trillion dollars.

Your assertion that socialism is working just fine and is the "best health system" is laughable.

The EU states, formerly known as sovereign nations, like Canada and all other socialist states, are running out of other people's money very fast. Like all socialist states, they reward those who refuse to work, which is exactly why Islamic jihadists and their supporters go there in the first place. They get paid to plot against their host nation, at the expense of the tax paying citizen.

The notion that socialized anything is the "best system," is absurd. The 20th and now the 21st century have proven this over and over again.

Just like the former Soviet Union, which was hardcore communist (forced socialism through armed might), the current "soft socialism" at work in the EU, and indeed in the United States, is a cancer that will, with the inexorable logic of the universe, rot any nation that partakes in it.

Venezuela is the obvious nation in the 21st century to look at right now, which is in complete and total economic free fall due to "free stuff for everyone." A nation with some of the largest oil reserves in the world is running out of gasoline (lack of refining capacity, due to socialism) along with essentials like food, healthcare, and even proper toilet material.

Venezuela is a failed state, because it embraced socialized medicine and every other socialized "policy."

If you think that the EU states, formerly known as sovereign nations, are faring any better, you are sadly misinformed.

Greece is broke and in default at a national level, an economic death spiral.

Spain is broke and has plundered about 95% of the nations PRIVATE retirement accounts in futile attempt to prop up their socialized "system" that is now collapsing. Italy, France, Germany, and even the UK are not far behind. All of them have "socialized medicine," the best system according to you.

What in hell makes you thinks Sweden or Norway are going to make it work "this time?"

The people who work and pay the taxes cannot afford continuous, sustained payment for the "welfare" of others, even under the threat of compulsory government "participation." That is not even remotely disputable.

The entire 20th century is strewn with failed socialism, from the Nazis, to the Soviets, to the Maoists, to practically all of Asia and most of South America; human governments that promise to meet the needs of everyone, by hook or by crook, end up as failed states, usually with the attendant wars, blood, famine, disease, and death that goes along with social and economic collapse.

But lets give it one more try here?

I have news for you pal. Spending other people's money can be summed up in one of two words: Charity, which is voluntary giving to the less fortunate; or Tyranny, which is compulsory "giving" at the point of a gun.

Anyone who think socialized medical care is not Tyranny can argue with the IRS when they confiscate their property for refusing to pay the taxes that support it.

So-called Second Amendment "supporters" who gripe about their "gun Rights" ought maybe to check their "privilege" when it comes to taxing other people into forced association (First Amendment), when the Feds never were granted that power in the Constitution in the first place.

In the United States, there is one last stronghold in terms of wealth for the common man, besides real property: retirement accounts, to the tune of about 20 trillion dollars. We have a national debt over 20 trillion. Do the math.

Think long and hard about what it means when the bills come due for the "socialized everything" mindset and how the government is going to cover that expense when the country finally goes belly up.

Like every "socialized" nation, the only way to pay that bill will be robbing everyone of the wealth they've accumulated at the barrel of a gun, which will result in national poverty and collapse, or war, blood, and fire.

Its happened EVERYWHERE its been tried, sooner or later.

I think we should all know 2 things:
1) Who is the Freedom Caucus and who would have voted for/against the plan.
2) What was the new plan? Fox didn't say anything about what was in it.

Of course there are other things to know, like what is the cost, what are the benefits (and to whom), etc. In Trump I trust. He said Ovomitcare will fold from it's own weight. I assume he meant this year or next. Then someone will have to create a new plan.

With regard to kids staying on a plan until age 26 - I am fine with that because my company pays for it (which in effect means I pay for it as part of my compensation).
