First off, door-to-door confiscation is far-fetched. It wouldn't happen that way for mass confiscation. They would just legislate it out of existence like here in NY and each person one by one would get caught after doing something stupid like now if they didn't decide to turn them in like the masses did. Eventually those guns that are hidden in backyards, floorboards, walls, and roof insulation by those who stayed out of trouble will be forgotten about until someone else finds them a generation or two later and turns them in or destroys them like all the fully automatic weapons and sawed-off shotguns that people had in the past.

The only door to door confiscation that will happen will be the same confiscation that happens now where at the end of it all, the officers pose in front of the small stash claiming it to be big. One at a time when one person fucks up at a time.

And the Bundy Ranch stand off was an unorganized mob. The government could have made short work of them with a couple of gun trucks or gun ships. They just didn't want to. The situation wasn't serious enough for them to do a mass slaughter to have to answer to. But if the grid was down and there was no internet or cell service and they were about to lose power (as in control) they most certainly would have destroyed that mob in the name of government safety and declared them all terrorists and later reported it in a paper newspaper their way.

Door-to-door confiscation as in starting on 1st Street and ending on 50th street by the police is as far-fetched as a bunch of grey haired, pot-bellied old men fighting the government and winning. Most can't even take the time out to go and vote. Most don't even take the time out to learn to shoot straight. And most don't know any battlefield tactics whatsoever. A great number of the members here constantly claim that 99% of the gun owners in the country will just roll over and let the Government do whatever it wants. An unknown number of them will, I'm sure. However, there are many of us "old, gray haired, fat guys" that ARE willing to stand up. Some of us understand guerilla tactics, and some even know how to hit a target beyond 100 yards. The Government will get more than they bargained for. Not knowing where the next shot will come from, from whom it will be taken, and how big the resistence force is will make being part of that confiscation crew a bad deal.

Swallwell and his ilk would love nothing more than to see something like this proposal th get passed. Even they know it won't be that easy. They are playing the long game while occasionally giving us a glimpse of what victory looks like to them. Every "victory" they win is ALWAYS touted as "A GOOD FIRST STEP" Never a second step, not even close to a race to the finish, but "a good first step". That tells me, there will ALWAYS be another step, that there will NEVER be an end.

To those that constantly whine that nobody is doing anything, I have to ask, Exactly what are YOU doing ? Did you volunteer for a pro gun /pro constitution politician today ? Did you donate to the campaign for one ? Did you decide to run for office yourself ???? Are you donating to the legal campaigns being fought by Pro2A groups ? My guess is that most of you sat behind your keyboard and posted links to something someone else is doing.

Politicians wanting to try it and police willing to go door-to-door from 1st Street all the way to 50th Street is another thing entirely. Very far-fetched. They'll continue the current path of legislating it away.

Legislate it away ? Exactly what got "legislated away" by passage of NYSAFE ? As far as I can tell, NOTHING. Last time I checked, the masses of this State did NOT register their guns. Did NOT sell their magazines. Did NOT make all their guns "compliant" . And they DID NOT TURN THEIR GUNS INTO PLOW SHARES. If anything, the passage of NYSAFE made most people stockpile more ammunition, and caused many thousands to take up the hobby of building their own guns from 80% sources. The Government will always have problems taking away that which they are not aware of.

As for me, well, yes, I have plans and contingency actions. So do all my trusted friends. We know how to contact one another, and we all know what needs to be done. I would be a fool to state all of them here, though.

It is irrelevant that many New Yorkers kept their black rifles and standard capacity magazines. How many of them take them out to public ranges and do mag dumps in front of a cop? Many people did not comply with the NFA either, how many of them or their kids/grandkids are shooting the unregistered machine guns? Charlie taught a bunch of us a thing or two. Every battlefield has something to teach those willing to study and learn from it. Perspective is gained with age. History teaches a lot. None of those are taught in any classroom.

First off, you get offended by me saying pot-bellied old men with grey hair. There is no need to get offended by that. It's just a statement of fact. I'm stating the obvious. It isn't an insult. That just happens to be the largest demographic of people who actually give a fuck of what's happening in this country. Some don't have pot bellies but most have grey hair. For the sake of uniformity, I just lump those that don't have pot bellies together with those that do. There are very few young men who actually give a fuck compared to the grey beards. Most just care about Facebook, Twitter, and football. There will always be exceptions if you throw young veterans in the mix but the majority will be old. That's fact. Newlyweds Joe and Amanda don't care and aren't going to stand in an open field to fight the government. They have other things on their minds like pregnancies, mortgages, ect.

2nd. It's was already explained what legislate out of existence means. I'll take your word on it that there are tons of people in your private club that shoot unregistered pistols over 50 ounces with front grips and fully featured AR's with 30 round magazines. I'm not in the business of calling anyone a liar but based on what I've seen at the two private clubs that I've been to when invited in this state and what most people say goes on in private clubs, it's usually a little more Fudd related as far as the type of guns that are shot there goes. But if your statement is true and I'm assuming it is, it still goes to show that illegal things still have to happen behind closed doors. Nobody is going hunting with fully featured AR's with a 30 round magazine in lands patrolled by the DEC. Nobody is going to the defensive class given at the local range by that cool instructor with a full auto Glock that has a front grip on it or an unregistered sawed-off shotgun. That doesn't happen even in free states.

Nobody is going to there local gun shop to purchase a Tommy Gun or an M249 Saw or a full auto M14. Those are extremely difficult to get because they've been legislated out of existence. Those that remain in circulation are hidden and will stay hidden until the pot-bellied grey haired man dies. Once he dies, his wife isn't going to continue to clean it and shoot it occasionally at the private club. In rare cases the kids may take it but in most cases, it just remains in the attic and is thrown out or turned in at a later time. Just think of how many Tommy Guns there used to be in circulation bought from catalogs and hardware stores. Where are they now? Are they seen in private ranges being handled by their new owners the grandchildren? I'm guessing not. Those are gone forever. And when they ban AR's by receiver in the future federally, those will be the Tommy Guns that you don't see at private clubs. It's not a hard concept to understand.

And lastly about getting up and doing something, it has been proven over and over that that results in zero results. Politicians will do what politicians will do. Judges will do what judges will do. I remember calling Dean Skelo's office dozens of times and writing emails to his office and blowing up his Facebook page. In the end he did as he pleased. Afterwards (I didn't go) but people gathered in Albany. What did that lead to? It lead to absolutely nothing other than cardboard cutouts being confiscated by the police. Just this week the police arrested the leader of Arizona's Militia that's organization has single-handedly detained hundreds and hundreds of illegal migrants. The police as a whole aren't on our side. In CA, letters and emails are constantly written. They are ignored as well. Laws keep being passed regardless of what's written. They got lucky recently with the Pro-gun Lower Court judge but that isn't going to last very long.

So I'm doing nothing just the same as I did nothing in the past when I called and wrote politicians. Equal results. I'm doing nothing now by not sending money to the NRA like I did in the past when I did. Both return the same result. I'm not naive. I see what's going on. I know that armed resistance is the only option now but I also know that it would fail. Americans of today aren't the same as Americans of old in the birth years of this country. They have other priorities in their lives. They are being indoctrinated at schools and on social media. Their priorities are different. They also don't have the same weaponry as they once had in the past that was equal to the government's weaponry. Only 3 percent of Americans actually fought in the American Revolution. You'll need a hell of a lot more now to win since we don't have the same weaponry as the government or their technology to avoid them as they have to find us. I'm a realist. I think multiple steps ahead. I don't just say to myself that I'm going to stand up and pick up a gun and that's it. I think further than that. I think about what has to be done after that gun is picked up to even have a very low chance of winning and I see that realistically, we don't have what it takes to succeed.

You have so called Patriots on this very forum that demonize people that are caught with unregistered guns or standard-capacity magazines and call them stupid for not following the law. These same people believe that only certain people should have guns. They think that if you have one drop of alcohol, you shouldn't touch a gun. They are for background checks. They don't want felons that have served their time to have guns even if they are non-violent. These people aren't going to storm police stations or government buildings and do what needs to be done during a revolution and get blood on their faces. They aren't going to wage Guerrilla War and commit necessary atrocities to get the job done and win. They aren't going to climb mountains and destroy police repeaters and cell towers. They aren't going to fire on police that are coming after them after those necessary evils are committed. Roughly 75 years ago, the leaders of this country figured out that they could buy votes with other people's money by redistributing it. At first, it was just a little bit here and there, but as time passed, the leaders figured out that not only could they remain in power, but that they themselves could get filthy rich in the process. A small tax here and there grew exponentially, and small payouts grew with them, all the while a cut right off the top to themselves was taken. The leaders of Rome had a saying: Bread and Circuses. Keep the peasants nourished just enough to live and give them something to distract them, and you may rule as you wish. Our political leaders have learned this as well. Programs such as foodstamps, welfare, housing, and all the rest are not designed to help people, they only serve to keep them in need. No-one in need will ever vote away the program that is sustaining them, especially if they have been taught that they are unable to fend for themselves.

Indoctrination starts at birth in America these days. Free thinkers are now mocked, harassed, shouted down, assaulted, and punished for their thoughts. No longer are the nation's colleges and universities places where more than one opinion can be heard. Those places of "higher learning" used to teach people HOW to think. Now they only teach WHAT to think. The same goes for K - 12 .

There are literally so many things wrong in this country that to fix it, just picking a place to start seems impossible. Each one of us must do that which we are able.

This country had a good run. Over 200 years have passed, and no society at any time in history has become and remained an economic powerhouse as has America. Sadly, the experiment of a democraticly elected representative Republic is being replaced with Socialism. The concept of private property and entrepeneurship are being called fascist, and the concept of equality for all is being taught as the answer to all our problems. The biggest problem with that, however, ( and there are many ) it that absolute equality can ONLY mean that EVERYONE has NOTHING. Equally poor. Except, of course those that are more equal than others- the rulers.

I'm sorry that America is dying right before my eyes. Most of us fat old gray haired geezers feel this way. We understand that America today is a LONG way away from the Country in which we were raised. Do I think that there is still hope for America to right itself ? Well, there's no doubt that she is floundering, but she is still afloat. Sadly, I don't believe that she will survive without MASSIVE changes to our political structure, and although I don't like the thought of it, those kinds of changes can only be brought about by bloodshed. In 100 years, America will still be here, but she will be a VERY different country than she is today, and will have almost No resemblence to what she was 100 years ago, much less 200 years ago.

The one thing I can be thankful for, is that as a fat old gray haired geezer myself, I won't have to witness what we all know is coming. Still, if the powers that be in this country wish to subjugate me, I will die willingly in a hail of bullets for the idea that was America.

I agree 100 percent. I'm 43 and approaching the grey haired, pot-bellied status. This country is I believe past the point of saving. It tipped a little too much to point that it's inevitable fall will happen. I believe it can't be stopped at this point. If it were up to me, I'd go live in the Alaskan wilderness and wouldn't care less if they elected that Hogg boy as president but the wife wouldn't allow it.

We almost all agree that the United States is in a serious downward spiral.

I do not think there is any coming back. Far more important issues are destroying us than just the 2A. The Second Amendment and guns are indeed very important. But so many other issues are taking us over like a plague.

Moral issues.

Ethical issues.

Schools.

The Court system.

The drug issue.

The penal system is so broken, I could talk about that all day long.

The list goes on and on in regards to the failing of this once awesome Country.

Get involved? I am a huge fan of them. One of the simplest ways to get involved is to vote. 60% voted in the last election for the President. Hell, we can't even get all involved in that. Good people are not running for elected office cause the system is completely fucked.

As for the discussion of the gray haired old men getting involved in a real, killing, fight against the government? That is very funny to me. Yes, a lot of Patriots in the ranks of the older, but an army? No, sorry.

But to say if push comes to shove nothing will happen is being very ignorant of just how many very well trained militia groups there are around this great country that will Not sit by.

A militia group of a few hundred men if that (realistically more like 25 man groups scattered here throughout the country) can accomplish what exactly? Sit down and really think about it. What will be their targets and after those targets are struck? What will happen next? Where will they hide out? What will cause them to strike? Semi Auto laws?

Militia groups will only shine if the grid goes down in a real SHTF scenario that affects the government as well where there is no immediate recovery. But other than that those few groups of men that don’t talk to one another scattered throughout the country will just keep meeting and talking amongst themselves. They don’t have the tools to take over a government if a semi auto gun ban is passed.

First of all, you can buy all the undocumented glocks and standard magazines you want from the unlicensed pharmacists that are so plentiful in every city. Saying they aren't in the gun shops and public ranges is like saying heroin doesn't exist because you can't get it at Walmart.

The limit on Thompsons and M60s is money, they are expensive to own and expensive to feed. I am sure if you've got the $$ you would have no trouble getting one, even in NY.

Yep, the militias would be most effective in a SHTF scenario, I am sure they know that and know exactly how to bring one about. We live in a country that is chock full of critical infrastructure that is all soft targets. A 25 man group could shut down NYC for weeks if they were determined and had a good plan.

Hell, with our infrastructure in the state it's in an unlucky raccoon could shut down power to the whole eastern seaboard.

Except that black market isn’t accessible to the average man. You can’t just roll up to the hood and ask any hoodrat where are the guns being sold at. Most of us “normal dudes” are pretty much confined to the gun shop.

And I’m sure some law abiding people here and in free states have so called “ illegal guns” that aren’t serialized but they are a minority. I bet you can count on no more than 2 hands just in this forum alone which is the largest in NY as far as who here has illegal pistols.

A guy like me that looks like me (and I’m mostly of Spanish descent) will have a pretty hard time buying heroin let alone a new Glock in the hood.

I think you underestimate the willingness of dealers to deal. I bet if you were really determined you could have yourself a decent quality black market handgun inside of 24 hours.
