Maybe. But it won’t be easy. I’d have to alter my appearance and have a lot of money to bribe my way in. True story. Years ago when I got out of the Marines I met with a former Marine that came up to visit that was staying in Long Island . We were in our 30’s and bar hopping. We wanted some tail so we took the Long Island railroad to Woodside Queens to look for a brothel. We were drunk and stumbling and got turned away from everyone that was an obvious lookout standing at street corners when we asked them where the brothels were at. And I asked in Spanish. We went back to Long Island empty handed.

I guess persistence and bribing money would have worked but even that may not have.

A guy like me that looks like me (and I’m mostly of Spanish descent) will have a pretty hard time buying heroin let alone a new Glock in the hood.

You obviously have never seen the clientele at a methadone clinic, they come from all walks of life, nice cars with folks in business suits to toothless dirty dregs looking like death warmed over. You definitely can't tell a book by the cover.

Oh yeah? When was the last time you saw a Thompson Submachine gun at the range? Where are all the FFLs selling them? Can you buy an M60 Machine gun? Where are all the people buying the new Gen 5 Glocks or Sigs without a license that requires registration? Where are the gun shops that’ll sell you 30 round magazines? Where are all the people at the range still shooting out of 30 round preban magazines? Look at this forum. How many threads do you see here regarding devices on how to fix a magazine?

I'm not talking about getting a fully auto weapon, which can still be had with the right resources, I'm talking about further legislation to ban even more weapons. Just how many registered their ARs and such? As for handguns, you don't need a Gen5 Glock or Sig. Any older variant can be had pretty quickly. Bet I could get my hands on a stolen hangun in Binghamton within a few hours. 30 round mags can be had in a neighboring state that still allows their citizens to have them. People buy standard capacity mags in Pa all the time.

A militia group of a few hundred men if that (realistically more like 25 man groups scattered here throughout the country) can accomplish what exactly? Sit down and really think about it. What will be their targets and after those targets are struck? What will happen next? Where will they hide out? What will cause them to strike? Semi Auto laws?

Militia groups will only shine if the grid goes down in a real SHTF scenario that affects the government as well where there is no immediate recovery. But other than that those few groups of men that don’t talk to one another scattered throughout the country will just keep meeting and talking amongst themselves. They don’t have the tools to take over a government if a semi auto gun ban is passed.

The militia groups in NY alone count in the hundreds each, some areas might be 25 or so but they will group with the rest when the call comes. Other parts of the country the groups have easily several hundred in each group, who will also regroup together. I will not get into the whats, wheres or whos because to many people read what is posted everywhere. I can't tell you what would trigger a response because I don't know that, but it will be more than a complete semi auto ban because everyone kept them anyway where they have been banned. Except for the few.
I suggest you gain the trust of some militia members then get into some good conversations with them. I can tell you right now though that trust isn't easily gained. With good reason which I'm sure you understand. Don't underestimate what's in this country and have some faith.

I’m talking about it. They are gone. Most do not have the resources to legally obtain good, reliable machine guns and most do not illegally obtain them. The people in the past and to this day bent over on that. And after you die with your semi automatic AR in the closet, the next generation will looked at AR’s just the same as machine guns are looked at by your generation.

So my point still stands. The people bent over in the past and will continue to bend over. Hiding something in a closet to not be used in public is still bending over as far as I can tell.

And as far as I can tell based on what I see here and at ranges, most so called illegal guns have been modified to be compliant or sold out of state. That’s where most of the low registration numbers come from. The majority of the members here did just that. Sure some just put them in a closet but they do not account for the majority of the low registration numbers.

I don’t doubt that an ill equipped militia can win a battle. Sure. Maybe even a few. But a war? No fucking chance. Why? There are too few of them (even if certain pockets number at a hundred) and they are ill equipped. They don’t have unlimited munitions. They don’t have air power. They don’t have the resources to escape evasion. The people aren’t going to be behind them. Certainly not for a semi automatic ban. I think it’s a fantasy that people here think that militia’s will rise for gun control. Maybe if the government was putting people in concentration camps ala Hitler style they would and they would have the full support of the people but that’s far fetched. The government doesn’t have to do that. All they will do is legislate away little by little as they have been doing. It’s working. Most will comply and some will hide them never to see light again until they pass and are turned in or thrown out after their death in this generation or the next.

I’m sorry. I just don’t see it. I just don’t see militias killing cops to get to government officials, continue to keep killing responding cops, evading, and then rising up to fully take over the government in subsequent battles. It’s a pipe dream fantasy to think that will ever happen for a semi automatic ban. And if not a semi automatic ban then what will cause them to rise up? Someone like Hillary being elected? Nope. What else could there be that isn’t far fetched? A gay president?
