OP wanted 5.56/223 though. Thats why I brought up the SL-6, that's what its chambered in. Cost is the same too.

There are some advantages of going the SCR route.
1) magazines are the same as the AR15
2) all AR15 upper components (sans the bolt carrier are compatible)
3) modular design just like the AR15.

I would highly recommend either an adjustable gas block or gas key for any upper you decide to put on it. There are not too many options as far as recoil spring or the spring guide yet.

Should also add that the SCR fixes the main problem of compliant stocks for standard AR lowers such as the Thordson- on the SCR the safety and trigger are brought reward towards the grip area for much improved ergonomics.

If you can stomach his long videos, Nutnfancy put the RDB survival version which is the non 50 state legal one with an adjustable stock and flash suppressor through it's paces. He gave it a thumbs up. For what it's worth, he isn't one of the paid shills that give everything a thumbs up. He's given thumbs down to other keltec products in the past.

He talks and talks and talks. He's awful to try and sit through a review. And he repeats himself... After the first 5-10 minutes you know everything he's gonna say

The big "but" here is that the stipper clips need to be good and proven to function well in your particular rilfe. Case in point: I have a '52 Tula SKS and the new manufacture Chinese commercial stripper clips (NCstar, UTG, ect all made in the same factory I'm lead to understand.) do not fit in my Russian SKS without some dremel work. I also need to tweak the tension on the spring tabs to have them feed smoothly. The Yugo clips are the best ones but again require hand fitting to work with my SKS.

When I had mine, a Norinco, the Chinese surplus ones from eBay were the only ones that worked reliably. I had to keep no more than 2 stripper clips per pouch though or else rounds would come off when grabbed if it was too tight in there.

Well it only figure that Chinese clips work well in Chinese guns. The SKS owner just needs to work this out is all. Problem is Russian clips are not easy to come by.

You can always buy those tapco magazines for when things get rough and turn it into a regular semi. But you Pennsylvanians don't have to worry about such nonsense.

Those duckbill monstrosities are awkward as all hell. I tried one out and swapped back to the fixed mag after one range trip.
