+1 for CZ rifles. I own two and they are very good rifles for the price point.Look at CZ Rifles. Mauser action nice Turkish Walnut stocks and very fair price. IMO great value for what you get.
The savage Axis guns are definitely cheaper , but you get what you pay for. Not saying they are bad rifles but they are Savage’s base model.CZ looks nice but they ain't given 'em away. The $40.00 mag is
Get a Ruger American Ranch that takes AR magazines. It's a 5.56 bolt action, with a 16inch barrel that takes AR mags. It's very accurate and has a lot of potential. The Browning BLR is offered in the .223 chambering. There are numerous naturally compliant 223 semi autos available still available too y'know.

Here you go bud. I'd say it's worth serious consideration. Ruger® Ruger American Rifle® Ranch Bolt-Action Rifle Model 26965I didn't know it takes ar mags +1 !!
I have one in 450 and love it. I like it so much I’m thinking I might pick up another one in .223 or somethingHere you go bud. I'd say it's worth serious consideration. Ruger® Ruger American Rifle® Ranch Bolt-Action Rifle Model 26965
I LOVE mine.
The Ruger American Ranch is also 1:8 barrel and it's 5.56 so it will also do .223You should look into the Savage or Tikka.
This is why:
It would be a shame not to have at least an 8 twist to be able to shoot the best bullets the 223 has to offer.
The Savage scout just started to ship with 7 twist so look for one that is not 9. The tikka comes in 8 twist with a nice magazine and action.
The savage is built in the legendary savage 10 action that is a lot stronger and the mvp just by the shank. The savage is after all time tested
and battle proven. The scout and a few other models come with bottom plate for the the AICS 10rd style magazine that is the best magazine system ever made.
Savage SCOUT 223REM 16.5
So even if it is in the same twist as the MVP, the savage comes on top on every single aspect in terms of reliability, strenght and specially accuracy.
But also keep in mind Tikka has a 1:8 twist with a detachable magazine that is well known for its accuracy and refined barrels and actions.
IMO those are the best value rifles you can get in bolt action. Even an Axis XP is a better action than many other popular rifles. It is simple but
because of its dimensions is very strong and it takes the same bolts and barrels as the 10 & 11 model actions. And savage barrels are among the
best. after all they are the pioneers who have changed the entire industry of the budget rifle.
Aftermarket is unparallel only matched by Remington 700 and followed by mauser style but way far behind those two actions that are the most popular in the world.
T3 is a great rifle as I said.
z
The CZ is a very nice rifle but it is a bit more tricky in terms of long term support.
If Vergara had a rifle in 223 this would be the best action for the money but they do not have this caliber yet.
So savage is a no brainer IMO.

I LOVE mine.
Right now I'm running this. Bushnell AR Optics Riflescope - 1-4x24mm AR91424 w/ Free S&HWhat are you using for a scope ?
The Ruger American Ranch is also 1:8 barrel and it's 5.56 so it will also do .223
I don't for a minute question anything you are saying. I'm just an advocate of the Ruger because it has most of what I am looking for in a bolt action replacement for an AR. Namely it has a good 16" cold hammer forged 1:8 barrel, good lock up system, takes AR mags, has a decent and growing after market and is rugged and good looking. I'm not suggesting it's "better" than your suggestions.hi,
Nobody is making a "223 remington only" chamber anymore.
Some 223 reamers are better chambers for the 5.56 than the 5.56 SAAMI chamber itself.
When I say better I am talking about accuracy by design based on the reamer blueprint.
There are at least a dozen variants of "223" reamers manufactures might be using all compatible with the "5.56"
It doesn't mean the 5.56 cannot be accurate but that is not the main goal for that blueprint/reamer.
Even for the 5.56 there are several reamers makers with slight variations.
The ruger is a better barrel and rifle than the MVP. At least it has a 1" tenon like Browning and Winchester.
(Winchester is now FN/Browning anyway).
Again, the savage 10/11 action is hard to beat with their history, barrels and track record.
What is amazing to me is that one could buy a LRP rifle and out of the box go compete given
a good scope. There was one model savage 10 the predator (not the XP) that has the same action as the LRP
all in a tactical/predator pacakge adn with the factory accustock but those were all sold right
away for around $650-700 that was amazing becuase overall value they leave the R700 SPS in the dust
in terms of quality out of the box.
IMO Bergara is another best value but the problem is they do not have the 223 at the moment
but their actions incorporate features only found in $3000 rifles and all in a Remington 700 blueprint
the way the actual remington should be built.
This is why...
- Side bolt release
- Integrated recoil lug
- Floating bolt head
- Integrated ball bearing claw type extractor At a perfect 85 degree angle (beats even the sako and badger style extractors)
- Tinmey trigger out of the box
- cocking indicator
- bergara barrel (Shilen match barrel making technology - partnered shilen )
- Actually very acceptable factory stocks like the accustock in savage but in the HMR model even better fully bedded.
- fit and finish of expensive rifles but on a reasonable budget.
...I guess we will have to wait for the 223.
nowadays there are many good rifles but there is still a huge benefits of beefed up, legendary, battle proven actions that
have unparalleled aftermarket and options. When all the fashions pass and all the dust settles there will be still those
rifles that were sold over generations and became the most popular actions in the world very good reasons.
