I think it was sub par. The current M240 is built like a tank and runs like a sewing machine. Its just to heavy. I think the two guns in the video give our Soldiers a gun that equals and even betters the world class PKM. Provided they actually run reliably. Based on a well respected design the probably will.It worked well.
Sure, a few issues, but it was a great weapon system.
I don't know shit about machine guns. So someone with experience can chime in hypothetically with reliability being equal, wouldn't a quick solid D60 drum mag swap be quicker then fumbling with a belt under fire. You may not always have someone to add a belt to your rifle.
I'll bet anyone $5 the Army doesn't replace the 5.56 with the 6.8. They will do what they always have done; do a lot of tests, make a lot of noise then finally decide the juice ain't worth the squeeze when it comes to replacing the M4/5.56.
It is going to take a major firearms breakthrough before the Army changes it up. I will say the polymer tellescoped cartridge thing may be enough as it's really the only refinement within our immediate technological grasp. We would have to see a quantum shift in powder or projectile tech, or a way to make caseless ammo practical before a new platform is adopted.
Do a little test
Make a little noise

Way back in the 80s my platoon sergeant ( Vietnam vet and Huey door gunner) told me that a smoothed nickel behind the buffer increased the cyclic rate of fire quite a bit. Never got a chance to try it, but I carried 2 of the M60D models and the M9 for a majority of my career. It worked well.
