The one on the top of the first picture is a Saiga in an original configuration. The one below has been converted to be like a regular AK. In its original configuration, the grip is part of the stock just like in a regular hunting rifle. The 2nd picture shows a guy holding it.

100% agree.
The only reason I bothered with the spur is because it is a cheap and easy way to make an AK compliant. Since I don't plan on remaining in this state for too many more years, there's no point in going with more expensive options as I'll be in a free state where I can go back to original configuration.

The saiga is ugly and NOT cool IMO with those neutered hunting rifle stocks. An ak is still a little bit cooler even with its balls cut off (pistol grip).

I don't know about that. That Spur makes it look ridiculous in my opinion and useless for real purposes in my factinion.

With the Trump Train about to roll; isn't the SAFE Act a moving target? I expect Trump to clean up the constitutional violations regarding 2A. But on an AK47 note; I wish someone would invent a left handed AK. Stag Arms did a great job doing that for the AR platform. How hard could it be - it's basically just stamped steel being inverted and an opposite bolt. Furniture, magazine, barrel etc should stay the same.

Trump will hopefully get his Attorney General to take a look at the unconstitutionality of the SAFE Act. It is my understanding that Trump has no great affinity for Cuomo; and I doubt Jeff Sessions has any great love for that guy either. NRA says the guy is A+ and here is a website of his positions.

Like will illustrated above the trigger housing in the saiga is moved back for the sporter version. When you convert back to the original form
the trigger housing goes forward to its original position. However there is a way to put a sporter stock and still reach the trigger. It will not
be the saiga factory stock. But when you change one thing you also need to make sure you have enough US made parts for federal compliance.
The trigger group alone made in the USA counts for 3 parts.

Finally, we stand a chance to get these blindly made laws thrown out. Banning features which make rifles more controllable or less harmful to the person firing them just goes against common sense.

You have secured your child with your wife and are now heading downstairs. As you get to the ground floor and turn right, rounds come at you forcing you to retreat and seek cover behind the wall you previously turned around.
You return fire and after the 11th round, the rifle goes click. Your hands are shaking and you reach into your pocket for the spare magazine. Again your rifle falls to the ground.
It fell three times but it looks cooler than the one with the conventional stock that you can get a full grip around and hold one handed.
First fault is reaching for an AK type gun. Second fault is being stupid enough not to know how to use it in the configuration you put it in. Third fault not having the wife secure the kid while you cover thier retreat to the safe room. Fourth fault failing to neutralize the threat with 10 rounds from your rifle. AK is a solid design that has stood the test of time. Granted it's not as accurate as the AR platform, but it can be submerged in mud and shoot watermelon seeds. Never seen a weapon that can be mistreated as much as an AK.

AK's are 2 MOA to 3 MOA. ARs can get to 0.25 MOA easily.
There were tens of thousands of 1994 ban legal AKs in NY. And more elsewhere. This includes SA85 and Maadi, both very good AKs, and both selling cheap now on GB. The only thing these have is detachable mag and PG. Remove PG. Done.
If you want AK74, demel off bayonet lug ears (leave accessory lug alone!), unscrew muzzle device and PG. Five minutes. Done.
If you want a full featured AK take a 10 round mag, weld half a bolt to the front of the mag so the mag release doesn't work. Insert mag. There is no way this could be considered detachable, since the gun and/or magazine would have to be destroyed to detach it.
