The ERPO Coalition will advocate this legislative session for the enactment of legislation (S7133/A8976) for an Extreme Risk Protection Order and the establishment of a civil court process that empowers family and law enforcement to temporarily remove guns from individuals who are in serious crisis and a danger to themselves and others.
Rights are only those things that you are willing to bleed and draw blood over."Rights" are merely "conveniences" when they can be arbitrarily dismissed in examples such as this.
That's all I'll say...
And yet I see no blood in NY, the rivers should be running red.Rights are only those things that you are willing to bleed and draw blood over.
Now is not the time. Installation of the next democrat president is.And yet I see no blood in NY, the rivers should be running red.
I found the proposed bill online and read it. Ugh!
Opposed to it to start with, but among the low points:
Anyone who files against you can have their names redacted. So, when you get served with one of these, you don’t know who is behind it. How the hell are you supposed to hire a lawyer; go to court in 3 or 6 days and be ready to defend yourself properly?
They can be filed with the court “ex parte”,- completely behind your back.
Turn in your guns the very same day you get served, or the cops have the right to come to your home the very next day and search and seize all firearms...
There is absolutely no recourse against anyone who files a false claim against you.
I can attest first hand that being dragged through the false accusation mill where your permit is suspended and you have to go to court to defend yourself when you have no idea of who or what you have been accused of is no damn picnic. And then there is the fun part of trying to get your guns back from the cops...
When this passes, you can be absolutely certain that gun owners with vindictive ex’s and anyone else with a grudge against them, will be dealing with this kind of shit way too often.
Think about it. Anybody with an axe to grind can make up any BS accusation,- and you’re going to get dragged through the system and have you firearms taken and your gun rights suspended with ABSOLUTELY ZERO PROOF OF WRONGDOING!Well in today's age, we see the full effects of guilty until proven innocent... Look at all the people outing so called sexual predators. Could you imagine? And employers releasing personnel only on allegations, no charges even. Simply amazing and it follows suit that these empty suit politicians would enact laws which prescribe the same and endorse such actions. You know, for safety sake!
Our country is working to get rid of the second amendment, meanwhile the Czechs are working to pass a similar amendment to protect their rights to own firearms...
You're absolutely right. However those others become much easier to get rid of once you disarm the population. That is why many appear to be hung up on just the second amendment. The entire bill of rights is important but the right to bear arms exists to ensure that the other rights do not get infringed upon.I know this seems to be about the Second Amendment, you know, taking guns and all. This goes so far beyond one amendment. The 4th, the 5th, the 14th as well as a few others. It's a violation of the 10th and let us not forget the 9th.
Too many people get hung up on one right. There are many more that they are stripping us of that hold more weight than the second

Sure seems like they would rather people leave for other states than stay in this one...I suggest that every firearm owner in NY read these two bills to see exactly what we are facing. It is some scary shit as far as I am concerned.
Here is the Assembly Bill A3661 as proposed: NY State Assembly Bill A3661

It's enough to make you hurl chunks.
