49 of 50 State issue CCW licenses (Not Vermont) that are renewable!(Indiana has a 4 year renewable and a Lifetime available) A few State have passed legislation for what we call Constitutional Carry ( CCW licenses were not ruled Unconstitutional by any Courts!) And still issue CCW license for other reasons. All other States a CCW license is required! So with the State changing our lifetime license to a recertifyable license ( Which will most likely become a renewable license)

So some if not most of the rest of the Safe-Act MAY be ruled Unconstitutional by the SCOTUS don't expect the Recert (Renewal) to be part of it! We already have 3 Counties and NYC with renewable license in this State!

As far as Cuomo goes, he isn't a smart man. There may be extensions for a while or non enforcement for another period but the law isn't going away because a few people didn't recertify like you seem to imply.

Literally any other state you could go to can rent a handgun at a gun range. New York you NEED this license to even do that. So no it' not the same

Now this thread is about recertifying ( maybe renewing down the road ) If it ever goes to Court the Judges are going to look at Licensing around the Country that will so precedent! It has nothing to do with NY licence to own/posses that would be a separate legal challenge which I believe has already bee upheld a the 2nd Circuit.

No you can't but what he's trying to say is that it's a carry license nonetheless and a judge will look at that and see many states with carry licence renewals and uphold it.

The Sullivan Act is a separate issue to be challenged separately.

NY is indeed a Concealed carry State. Barring a few exceptions.

In the majority of the state, if you have a permit, it is a Concealed carry permit.

Right but given how corrupt our courts are if they even entertain to take a recertification case which they won't but if they do, they'll just say what Noratoga said and we'll argue the decision and Noratoga will put the decision in his signature.

You may be looking at this to broadly, If this whole recert is challenged the confiscation/surrendering all your firearms may be thrown out! Courts look at cases in a narrower scope then I think you are?

The certification, if challenged, will definitely be upheld. Across the country, many states do a recert. There have been some court cases and each and everyone has been upheld by the courts.

Confiscation will not stand. Violation of too many amendments.
