Oh well, its not like the NRA has done anything to help us anyway. Kinda glad they won`t be involved. That way we`ll have less to worry about with them throwing our rights away. The good thing is, Wayne LopEar`s won`t be getting any money out of it.

This is about the boots on the ground regular Joe that went and got certified to work at a range or teach a class to help those that need training. Yes, the NRA organization sucks, but that's an issue with the leadership, not the guys at the range.

Dude. Get the car key out of your ear and listen for a second. This bill is removing the NRA instructors from the approval list for the CCIA approved courses. THAT is an issue and is THE issue at hand. The state is trying to limit who can teach the now REQUIRED course thereby limiting the number of courses available and further limiting the 2A in NY. Your argument about the leadership is irrelevant to this bill. What's that saying, you're pissing up a rope?

The NRA isn't your enemy either. There are multiple branches and disciplines within the organization and it's offshoots.
You have to remember that they're Lobbying, not actually passing Legislation, and they don't have armies of Lawyers waiting in the wings to deploy to the States whenever there's a Bill introduced or passed, and like it or not there's ALWAYS a political mean and motivation with every Bill Passed or proposed, so we damn well will lose more unrepresented than negotiating concessions.
NRA funded the NYSRPA v. Bruen SCOTUS Case to the tune of two million dollars and supplied Legal and logistical help with it.
The demand in the CCIA that Instructors be NRA certified was prejudicial and discriminatory against Instructors that did not or chose not to be not only Members but be issued Training Credentials. It would seem a good number of those authorized to conduct recognized Training Courses also Train Law Enforcement and Corrections Officers using training they received through the State.

I was an NRA member for many years. All I really got out of them were magazines. While I am no longer a member, the NRA has been very important to the education of gun safety and shooting sports. The problem is, if the tyrants ban them and their curriculum, then the NYDOJ sets the standards and I do not think you will like the result of that. They can require things as part of their training that can skirt what the law states. Who is to say they dont add "mental health" checks and home inspections as part of their "training" routine. Bottom line...this is bad, whether you like the NRA or not.
What are the other "viable options" for receiving the Training required under the recently passed Concealed Carry Improvement Law that demands that 16 hours of instruction and an additional 2 hours of Range qualification be conducted prior to either initial issuance or renewal of a NYS Handgun Licenses, said training has to be conducted by a Certified NRA Instructor. The viable option of moving out of NYS or becoming Law Enforcement is a bit too radical by comparison.
I do find it ironic that the Legislature wrote this requirement into the Law while at the same time the State AG and her handlers are doing their damnedest to destroy the NRA as a Pro-Gun Association.

I'm not attacking you or your beliefs, whoever I do wish you and others to consider that the acusations of impropriety, graft, and corruption ALL came from People who have sworn to destroy the NRA (State Attorney General, Governor, Senate Majority Leader, et.al) So why would they say something favorable towards the very entity they vowed to destroy?
Over the years it's become apparent that People think the NRA a high and mighty organization that makes the Gun Laws of this Country or has teams of Lawyers to save their asses all because of the $25. they might send in for membership every year. If it was so bad an Association, do you think that almost every Manufacturer of Guns, Ammunition, and Accessories would make Corporate sized donations every year? How about that tens of thousands of Members (and you DO have to be a member in good standing to gain entrance) would attend the Annual Meeting and cast votes to approve the re-hiring and retention of not only Wayne but dozens of Directors, and Division Directors?
Don't by the bullshit from those that hate and would see us destroyed, because plausible as they make it sounds, it's seldom of truth.

Limiting approved instructors drives prices up, there by making it not affordable to many.
Broome only has 4 approved instructors now. If any of them are NRA instructors, the others will raise the prices even more.
And the training requirement will stand.

Most of these pistol permit classes are designed by said instructor.
With the changes that NYS has made there may not be enough certified instructors as it is!
