You know, I wondered if this were THE case, the one that we NYers would finally rally behind. Seemed like a good fit - veteran with no criminal history, acquitted on the original charge that led to the arrest and search, defendant takes the stand and asserts a 2nd amendment defense.
So, I came here and searched to see if there were other threads on this case. There are a few, but THIS one stood out. After reading the 7 pages of that crap, it was finally clear to me. There is no "we" in terms of 2nd amendment support in NY. No "we" here. A popular member here could be arrested on similar charges and the usual whining, backstabbing and excuses would be posted on the forums. A few words of support perhaps, and of course lots of bitching about Cuomo and the rest of the NY politicians.
Let's be clear:
If "we" truly want to make a difference, our only hope is if ALL of us work together. It is the only way.

Let's be clear:
- Simeon is going to prison. He was convicted of 3 felonies and his own comments on the legal aid fund page will be used against him at sentencing. If the conviction stands there will be more - a lot more.
- A conviction is generally required in order to challenge the constitutionality of a law. Here we have one, and one where the defendant was not convicted of any other charge. He appears to be an otherwise law abiding citizen, and has a compelling back story. Most importantly, Simeon seems to be dedicated to the cause, and willing to fight through the appeals process. Without some support, that will likely be beaten out of him soon enough.
- There is no need for anyone else to "go out and get arrested" themselves in order to prove their dedication to the cause, as suggested in that other thread. No need for anyone else to risk their livelihood or make sure they "come home to the family" tonight.

This average citizen without a Criminal Record probably had no fear of Police other than glancing at his speedometer when he saw one..

So I watched the video and if I heard right, his "crime" was having magazines in his car that held 10 rounds or more.

"Unless there is probable cause to believe the law is being violated, there is no justification for checking a magazine to determine whether or not it contains more than 7 rounds."
Either this guy is an idiot or his attorney was. Talking about the 2nd amendment just marks you as a "gun nut". Of course you NEVER take the stand either.
The SAFE act is quite clear on magazines. He ignored that at his peril.
It's unclear how many rounds the mags could hold, were they loaded, when were they made and why the police even had cause to examine them.

I have lots of hi cap mags BUT were I to relocate to NY, they would stay in my free state second home in FL.
My 1911 can deal with a bad guy with 7 rounds, my 10 round Wilsons would not come to NY ! My threaded bbl and can would also stay behind.

They look for every excuse to let real criminals back on the street with numerous offenses, this poor guy is probably a target shooter,what a joke.. if he lived in 44 other states,this would be business as usual. Not here I guess..He is licensed too it says, should just be an administrative code violation imo,but I'm sure they will do all they can to ruin his life over something so stupid. Say a prayer that SCOTUS picks this one up to restore some sanity. if ever they need a good starting point, this appears to be it.

He was pulled over for suspicion of DUI/DWI. He refused the field sobriety test and allegedly asked the officers to turn on their body cams.
He was put under arrest for DUI and his car was impounded, which let the police to search the car for inventory and found the mags.He was acquitted of the charges for DUI but was convicted for the magazines. Which is why people are saying the arrest was BS to begin with.
At least that's what I get from all the articles and vids that have been posted.
