My questions are:

1) Ostensibly, the NYC posting suggests prep for hurricanes, but as per experience, only low-lying areas are really vulnerable, and this hurricane season does not seem to be any more remarkable than an average year so far.

2) I find this unusual coming on the heels of the recent "We've been nuked, so what do you do?" video.

3) Where are all these people supposed to go when they evacuate?

Just two weeks after releasing a Public Service Announcement telling New Yorkers what to do if a nuclear bomb hits the city, that same agency is now telling New Yorkers to pack a “Go Bag” and be ready to EVACUATE New York City. According to the official government web site for New York City Emergency Management, New Yorkers should:

Any population in significant numbers meeting that criteria will be from Suffolk. No way they are running the gauntlet westward. You could do an entire Steven King mini-series filmed at the Port Jeff ferry dock or Orient Point.

Watch the video and take the opening narration seriously. "Don't ask me why, but the big one has hit, okay? So...."

That's the message right there. Don't ask. And the way she says 'okay' as in 'I'm done with that part of the conversation.'

And the buildings are fine. That says something as well...

I spent some time in media, and everything is part of the message, especially in such a controlled environment as a computer generated background and single narrator.

I want another free go-bag to go with my EXISTING go-bag! They used to give them out via the NYS OEM office which was a blue back-pack filled with so-so stuff but useful, for attending a free 3 hour seminar and course.

If Nukes are headed to NewYorkistan, many places will get hit. Every Army/Navy/Marine Corp base on the East coast will be annihilated.
NY Shitty will sink if a nuke goes off.
I don’t know how many bases are still in operation but, I remember when I was serving that there were a shot load of BASES that they felt would get hit in an apocalyptic scenario.

Several possibilities from mundane to extreme down the rabbit hole.

1. A lot of this info is just what FEMA recommends and some have just copied it and ramped it up, applying it regionally.

2. Some in emergency management are reading the Geo-political climate and just following their conscience in terms of preparing the masses. (But they can't publicly admit that the Xiden Admin scares the shit out of them.) Because.....

3. Civil Defense preparation programs have not been maintained in this country (Russia's CD is far more robust) and anything that could be resurrected locally would be quickly overwhelmed. Evac is an alternative to shelter in place.

4. Stoke more fear among the masses, because we are not stressed enough. Get :tinfoil: nuts in forums to comment & expose themselves as deplorables :nervous:

5. Event planned just prior to November Mid-terms.

6. Super crazy Tom Clancy/Cormac McCarthy type shit>>>Prelude to war/invasion. Clearing a beach head. Internal cooperation possible (has .gov been hijacked by radicals?). NYC/Long Island has much infrastructure, large yet lightly armed population. Destroying the NYC Metropolitan area creates a land barrier, leaving Long Island isolated for occupation. Viable strike distances along eastern seaboard. Limited nukes can be employed. EMP & high altitude aerial bursts can create manageable levels of fallout. Depending on strike type, radioactivity falls off rapidly in the first few hours and can reach survivable levels (<1 - 2 weeks) for occupation forces, less needed if properly equipped. A less autonomous Military with weak leadership (possibly compromised), acclimated to taking stupid, unConstitutional orders. Does recent promotion of cannibalism in media align?

7. Any combination of above.

Stuff like this has existed for a while. I remember a NYC specific "have a plan" (or something like that) campaign, telling people to have an emergency plan.

Where I live there are a lot of redneck families, and baskets of deplorables.
Most of them are irredeemable.

Guns, traps, dogs, swamps, and hogs with some backhoes scattered about.
So there's always that to consider.
Plus home field advantage.

It would be best for them to stay in the city.

Urban creatures can't put together a "go bag" are you kidding me? People live in cities because they are useless, dependant parasites who are unable to think for themselves. Urbanites know they can't survive without someone else providing every single thing they need
And frankly I am glad for this. With any luck there will be some legendary level natural disaster that strikes NYC and its denizens will all die. That would make me so happy.
