I had 1 inspection by NYSP in the 16 yrs. I was open. Checked the handguns I had instock and cross checked them with A&D books and my P12 forms. I read him the serial numbers while he went thru the books. After almost 2 hrs. he said everything was good. I figured his official business was finished and when he asked to look at a S&W model 36 I had I asked to see his handgun permit. He got a little pissy with me and said he didn'r need one. I told him looking at it for possible purchase was nothing to do with his job and he could come back with his PP and I would let him handle it. He said it looks like you pretty much know the NY laws and told me to have a nice day. Never saw him again.

You're confusing FEDERAL LAW with STATE LAW: Fed's say Black Powder/Muzzle loaders are "non-guns" but NYS says they ARE guns/firearms and Felons ARE prohibited from having them. (it started a decade ago when this sub-par Female Trooper thought she was all that and a felon popped her with a Cap & Ball Revolver, well the Legislature said no more of that! and made them illegal for Felons)
On another tangent: The NICS System has very specific parameters for what a NICS check can and cannot be used for, and specifically says its not to be used for Non-Guns, which it say BP/ML guns are (sans the ones that can easily be converted to shoot modern cartridge with a Barrel Change eg. T/C Encore) yet NYS insists that same system be used for BGC's prior to transfer. (unless the latest revision has changed this)

No, I have not confused the two. I specifically clarified federal and state in the initial post. Felons can have BP as far as the Federal Gov is concerned and our State has determined that felons cannot have a BP. A person breaking state law does not go to Federal prison was the point.

Federal prison and state prison offer free records of inmates. Your friend served federal time in the early 80's and was released. There is no record of a federal or state arrest, newspaper articles, indictment, trial, conviction or imprisonment for what you state.

What should we believe, that all records are missing, or that a person with a history of lying is doing what he does best?

I want to hear more lore about the "inspections" you and your friend were subjected to, or better yet back to the core lie, what "MAGA types" are being harassed by the state police due to their firearm purchases? This should be popcorn worthy.
