It is only the certificate for $19.95. You still have to buy a license. Normally there is no charge for the Hunter Education Course but Covid-19 cancelled all that.

Honestly, I enjoyed my in person class (and I got 100 on the test, lol) but I did NOT enjoy having to give up an entire Saturday to do it. Which may be yeah it's only one day, once, but when you're busy with work and family it is a lot.

You can take the Bow hunting class online starting July 15th

As of June 29, 60,243 have registered to take the online hunter education course and 27,813 have completed the course.

Last year, between 19,000 and 20,000 people completed the in-person course.

GF i had a few yrs ago in her 40's took it in high school in PA .. called the county clerk for that area .. need a copy of hunter cert took it at so in so high school .. a copy was in the mail that week ..

trapping would be awesome , there are so few classes for that so should be done online ..

Not sure what you mean? You can get your duck stamp with just Hunter Ed course. The only waterfowl course I know of is a bird indentification course that I believe lets you hunt certain government lands.

I took the class online a few weeks ago, i did it in one day and it was pretty time consuming. They have a lot of information to cover but I wish it could have been a little more streamlined. Oh well it’s done, glad I did it.

I don’t have any plans to get into hunting in the near future but thought it would be good to have and liked the idea of doing it online instead of spending a day or two in person.

Just the classroom part. There are guys like me who grew up without a hunting tradition in the family. No weekend class is going to help me get started in hunting I think.

What do you wish to hunt? Do you enjoy eating small game? Or do you wish to deer hunt?

Re: my handle- I used to hunt small game like it was my job. As I've aged, I can no longer take the walking involved in all day grouse outings. Therefore as a general rule I deer hunt exclusively now.

If you wish to pm me from time to time, once you decide the direction you want to go, I can give you some quick pointers on each game species you wish to hunt, to help you become successful more quickly.

Success is encouraging, but the whole point of the exercise is to be out there, enjoying what you're doing, and the time spent in the outdoors.

You must clear your head before you enter the woods, free it of clutter. Animals do not keep a schedule. They only care about 2 main events/day, sunrise and sunset.

I did my course for PA because NY didn't have online, but let people transfer. Stupid ass rules. I love bending them. So did it online, saved myself a saturday because the courses were booked, bob's your uncle.

The archery one I did do in person as I think I had to.

There is allot more to hunting then just pulling the trigger. Every one should have to hunt there are great life lessons in it , Especially there are no reset buttons. Not like a Game. you pull that trigger and what ever is in line with it will be lifeless soon. its very humbling to be standing in front of something that was just full of life some 30 minutes earlier and now is just warm body with no life in it. I think Hunting makes you a kinder wiser person. And yes getting your license is just the start, connecting with a real hunter to guide you thru a hunt is ideal. My Great Unkle and my Dad are the ones who led me . Also you have to willing to spend allot of time with your self alone.Most people don't know how to be alone with them selfs. That alone time is one of the great gifts you get from hunting

My entire life I've been hunting and never had a bow hunters certification. Why, because I hate deer hunting, it bores the shit out of me. Only thing I do like about it is meat in the freezer.

So after speaking with a friend who hunts the shit out of deer and hunts in Canada for bear,,,,I decide to get into it because it will give me a better opportunity starting the season earlier when they are still running around and tend to run around more often during Rut.

Took the class online on the 15th, it took me a couple of hours because the test doesnt let you bypass information and go straight to the test. Though as soon as the time limit was up and without reading and just skipping over 98% of it I answered 48 questions right, out of 50. So obviously I passed with flying colors.

I ordered my bow and my release before taking the class. Just need to purchase arrows and a case. This is the bow I purchased which comes with a bunch of items needed. Bought it from Sportsman Warehouse on sale for 550. Went there the other day and had my draw length measured first before searching for a bow online.

I may be in the same boat and pick up archery as well. I have a crossbow, which gets me two weeks extra early, but really by the time shotgun opens up here depending on the weather it gets harder and harder to find and close with deer worth taking. That full archery season would open up a lot of potential and I suspect I'll be working from home the remainder of 2020 anyway...
